Default Patrick Long/Jörg Bergmeister wins Laguna Seca

The Flying Lizard Motorsports 911 GT3 RSR driven by Patrick Long/Jörg Bergmeister wins Laguna Seca and the 2009 ALMS GT2 championship.

The last 5 laps were a battle royale with the No. 3 Vette which was a total bully. The Vette was coming strong but in my view it has an unfair advantage as it was allowed to race the LS7 7L GT1 engine. OTOH, the Porsche has a mandated 55lb extra weight penalty !?!

This Porsche victory was their 100th Series class victory, a first for any manufacturer!

That was some finish! Bergmeister just drove around the Vette when they were up at the wall and he was not giving him an inch.

Great race!

I do not tolerate bullies especially in racing. Magnussen crashed against Bergmeister on the final straight and unsettled it. Bergmeister defended his turf and properly so. The Vette team is a great team but they seem to have this season a chip on their shoulder as they are overly aggressive and unsportsman-like.

At least the officials caught the pass on pit-ouy lane early.

Yea, the Vette tagged him and at least he wasn't punted off track as Melo did to the Farnbacherloles car last year. That's always a battle. But I think they should have the Vette in GT1 as before.

I hope we get some video of the last few laps...amazing stuff.. looked like it was Vette body parts that crossed the finish line!

The Vette is a great chassis and engine but in GT1 it had no competition. Politics as they are, I imagine the Vette will have a smaller engine soon and then its fit in GT2 will be better.

Just the reverse of what happened to Bergmeister in 2007 at Sebring when Jamie Melo gave Jorg the boot on the last lap!! It was a great finish.......... if you are a Porsche fan.

I just cannot understand this... how thoughtless can you be to put the result on the title of your thread, despite so many warnings all these years. Stupid me for even looking at the threads.

What? This race took place yesterday and it was tape-delayed broadcasted today.

I think it was quite different. At Sebring Melo was the bully who shoved Bergmeister aside. At Laguna Seca, Magnussen shoved Bergmeister from the rear, unsettled the RSR and Bergmeister defended his position. Quite different, don't you think?

+1. I had a wedding to go to today so recorded it and now I'll know who won before starting to watch it

Please have the courtesy to put "Spoiler" in the headline and then post the results in the actual post and not the headline. I'm sure this was just a slip, we all make mistakes, but for the future, please keep this in mind.
