Default Thoughts on selling 07 RS

Orange car will go into storage soon and then I've got 2010 RS coming when it comes out. My car has 2200 miles, a couple of extra leather bits, clear bra, orange console, and is absolutely perfect. I don't drive it much because I have a track ready GT3 and other stuff that I like to drive.

I hate selling stuff because I always miss it. Any thoughts?

+1

If you snooze, you will lose. Looks like the bottom is dropping out from 07/08 RS cars prices.

New model coming out.
Economy taking a second downturn.

I have never understood bubble wrapping a car. They are meant to be driven.

07/08 prices havent really moved this summer. 105k-110k are the lowest of the low.

Not many offered for that price which shows people are holding vs. taking big losses.

And logically, if new 997.2GT3RS proves to be harder to get then anticipated, then alot of 997.1 RS owners will be holding for awhile longer, thus resale price stays steady.

Next year expect to see 997.1 RS in same 100-110k bracket for higher milage used examples.

my advise to those with 07/08 RS with over 2000 miles on them is to start driving them because the broader market of people now looking to buy them are looking to use them and are looking for low prices in the 100-110k mark. No sence holding on to a 2000 mile car an expecting to fetch 130k for resale purposes. It wont happen.

do yourself a favour and really enjoy it. The car is a legend. Be apart of it

Numerous threads on this decision already! A lot of (lucky) drivers will be facing this (enviable) dilemma next year.

Here's one thread from a guy that's had VIP access to the car in Frankfurt:

for many ppl, the decision to sell or not hinges on the price.
i never understood that.
i first decide if i drive the car enough, less than 12000 mile a year, i would sell the car. that's 12,000 per car per year.
once i decide to sell, i sell, regardless of the price or the mkt.
it's much easier to figure things out that way.

The answer simple, If you need the money sell it, If you do not, I say keep it, these cars despite what people anticipate, R going to continue to hold most of their value, simply because there are not that many made of them unless VW F*$%s up the brand by increasing production significantly ( the CEO already indicated that is the plan) but then they must lower prices to attract more buyers. A delimma that only time will tell how it will be manifested... Even then the older (current RS) will still increase in value or hold it, because there will only be 900 vehicles less the wrecked ones available worldwide( one theory behind buble wrapping). At the end Most of us buy cars because we enjoy driving them either daily or once in a blue moon
I will not sell mine unless I need the cash after selling the house, wife, children, etc......Just kidding the children will stay
