I drove 4 hours to Summit Point WV in pouring rain on OEM MPSCs. Only once did I need to slow down to 55 when I could barely see out the window.

I wouldn't advise it, but they do work. I would rather use PS2 in wet.

if you have enough wheels:
corsa system--- every day and street rain-- they are between PS2 and MSPC
hoosier wet- rain track
R6 - track dry

two sets of wheels: Corsa every day and track rain: Corsa or PS2 : Hoosier R6 track dry

Hey VCR GT3,

I'm from Vancouver too, have we met?

I've done multiple wet track days in Mission and PR with PS2 and they are great, and I can pass cars on R-compounds that I usually cannot.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A

Bridgestone S03s were a lot better in the rain. My street S03 fronts finally wore out (I am on my 2nd set of R050A rears). I have a new set of R050As up front and they are definitely not as good as the S03s in the rain. Too bad Bridgestone stop making the S03s.

The best street tire I've driven in the rain is a Toyo T1-R. Simply great control in the wet.

Best race tire I've had in the wet is the R888. I could drive 95-98% in the rain with high confidence with this tire. MPSCs were terrible in the wet, even at close to full tread. I was also not very impressed driving RA1s at half tread in the rain. Anytime I hit a large puddle, they would trap water.

Few weeks ago I had a DE at Sebring int he rain. My R888's where horrible I thought. On the drive over ont he street I had a R888's on and they hydroplaned very easy. My stock PS2's are much better in the rain.
I have heard many good things about the Corsa tires in the dry and wet.

another porsche was on RA-1. in the rain 888 and RA-1 didnt seen to help. We both had to hold back alot.... we were being passed by minivans on the freeway in transits. sad but true.

Im leaning towards PS2 or perhaps the bridgestones... however the DOT Hoosier Wets perked my interest.....

anybody have experience with hoosier DOT wets?
Corsa is very good in standing water or downpour. I have them on a 993 Turbo in 2WD with more than stock HP (certainly a lot more than a stock RS and in a lighter car) and K24 neck-snapping boost onset. I've had a range of other tires and the only other option I'd consider would be Hooter wets and maybe hand groove them if you wanted monsoon tires for some reason. The Hooters and the Corsas will stay soft in colder temperatures, but they'll also suffer if things turn warmer or drier. I don't know off hand if you can get the right sizes, but as mentioned, a tad narrower is the general idea.

I've driven the Corsa's on my 2010 GT3 in rain so heavy that visibility gave up before the tires did.

And don't forget the criticality of tire pressure upon hydroplaning.

Are you allowed to drive with the windows closed?!

They make us drive with the windows down only!
