I think that is how it is shaking out generally (as it should be taking floor plan and other inventory costs into account, etc., in this economy).

If anyone is getting below msrp on ordered allotted cars, pls pipe up!

TIA.
My ordered car is MSRP, with DE mounts!

I ordered mine (Oct/Nov. build and Dec. delivery) with the engine mounts. I'm getting mine below MSRP.

Fuenfer,

Please PM details if you would please. FWIW, I got 6% off when I ordered a 98 C4S (which seemed great at the time given the low production numbers), then was offered 5% off a 08 997 Turbo (when they were still hot before the world melted down). So I hoped I could get a deal on a GT3, but yesterday, when I called the same guy at the same dealership (who I have know for 12 years) he said he could not help me this time -- the 2010 GT3s are going for MSRP. My $0.02.

^ My experience too.

My allotment - hopefully here soon - is msrp whatever the specs - it was delayed pending the mounts and possible PTS.

I too wld love to know the details, Fuenfer (if you don't mind, PM as well pls). TIA

Even if you have a dealer telling you what you want to hear, the proof of the deal will be the allocation of a production slot. I don't expect the GT3 to be in short supply beyond the initial few months of demand once the backlog clears of people waiting for the engine mounts.

If I were ordering one, I'd wait for mounts -- I think they're the defining feature of the car even if they really don't do much for ride quality (though of course I hope they do, but I don't think the 997.1 ride quality was ever even the slightest of issues ... it's noisy, the mirror vibrates to the point of blurred rearward vision ... and?) I've drive the 997.1 400 mile round trips including a full day at the track and was entirely comfortable (though you couldn't hear the bloody radio ... junk!) But if the mounts improve weight transition, that's worth considering.

Mounts aside, if dealers are discounting cars on the showroom, I'd be tempted to take the discount. If you can get a hard and fast allocation to order one with a discount, that's even better, but I think you'll have to be lucky to get that allocation or be weight half way into summer to get a car.

I have found that dealers offering a discount also are cranking up the interest rate to offset the discount WATCH OUT!

yes, a lot of dealer make money on the back end (int rate). make sure u shop both for price and for the rate, not just the pmt.

get the mount if you want it hard. if you are getting it to soften the car up, you bought the wrong car. i drove my RS 1000 miles in one day
3:30am from SF to button willow 300 miles
200 miles on track
600 pm, from BW to thunderhill 500 miles for another two days of track drving.
the car is soft as butta.

agreed

my stiffest car is my Jetta TDi with Bilstein coil-overs. the hoot is that in the twists i can kiss bumpers with guys in high-end iron and they hate it

i think the 997.2 GT3 is a street car all the way. the 997 GT2 is a creampuff!
