I neither endorse nor seek to aid Canepa Design — or the OP. Nor do I wish to make any comment on the issue within this thread. I do, however, think that some of the comments and conclusions here are troubling since only one side of the story has been presented. It's a good thing our legal system doesn't depend on web forums! And, with real legal action a strong possibility, I suspect the full extent of either side will not be presented here.

There is no question that I would be upset were I on either side of this dispute. But reading about it here (as well as in at least two more RL forums) increasingly makes me feel like some kind of a vulture.
Where's your investigative, journalistic nose? I smell a big story whether it's favorable to Canepa or not. Angles range from the state of Porsche's secondary market to the repercussions and the outlook for the high profile brands that rely upon Porsche and how they're dealing with the global and US economic chaos.

Vulture? : )

I've heard Excellence called all kinds of names, some less flattering than others, but "bald headed, carniverous scavenger bird feeding on the rotting remains of the dead and dying" ... I think that goes too far. At least, let's wait until we see what VW does to the Panamera and the Cayenne ... then there might be a surplus of rotting carcasses. : ) Maybe your editorial direction misjudges the readership demographic? : )

On a lesser front, I see misrepresentation on body color quite often with specialty shops. Claiming it to be Paint To Sample or to "Match" shows how little Canepa knows of the Porsche cars themselves. Anyone can look up a color by year and discover if it was Paint to Sample or simply an available color for that year. The same thing happened a few years ago when a guy on the East Coast bought Jerry Seinfeld's 993 Turbo S in Blue Turquoise,--and the seller called it a custom color. (For that year, 1997, it was a standard color,--rare, but standard). When I informed the buyer of that he was mildly POed that he hadn't done his homework. The lesson here is to do your homework up front. Trust no one.

That's the best advice on this thread or anywhere else! Very true about the color descriptions, a lot of "poetic license" is frequently taken.

I was going to buy a 997 GT3 from a F dealer. It was a trade on a 430. They told me it was a virgin. I took it to a Porsche dealer had a PPI with liners and front air duct removed. 3 corner repair and the car was still bent. The dealer paid for the $560 PPI. Good for me... the car ended up at Park Place in Dallas.

Don't be a douche bag - as with virtually all disputes that end up in litigation, the lawyers didn't cause the problem.

You're probably right - seems perfectly logical that the seller's atty would advise the seller to enter into an allegedly fraudulent transaction and the buyer's atty would insist that he not obtain a thorough inspection of the car. What was I thinking?

Geeeee ....... you sound like a scumbag lawyer getting all defensive ! ! !

Gentlemen work out their disputes, where "Loyers" always advise their clients not to have ANY contact and just let the "Loyer" handle it.

Not defending the dealer, but if it had a clean title before this dealer got the car, how can you prove they knew it was a salvage car?
