Race Car
Did you read all the other posts? The car HAS a salvage title on the carfax report, apparently from the accident in 1998. (post #36 &106)
My assertion is that the story in post #81 can not be accurate, as you wouldn't total a car with 800 miles on it for scratched hood and fenders.

Here's an interesting report of a similar situation involving a Ferrari, but the "Had I known, I would not have bought" issue. The current dollar weight on the litigation is approaching $200K on a $60K car that's bounced in and out of garages for a decade or two. Sounds similar. I don't agree with the opinions expressed in the article or attributed to the various parties, I'm posting here purely for amusement.

The TT in question is back on the Canepa site, without a description. The Carfax still shows 'Salvage Title'.
I was planning to give Canepa a call to ask about another car they have for sale and came across this thread when doing some due diligence. I am curious how this story ended, if indeed it did end. Has the dispute been resolved? Are the people over at Canepa worthy of my trust?

It's also on craigslist now for $79.5k:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/ctd/1564188856.html
From the ad:
This Turbo has only been driven 2765 miles in the past thirteen years! It was special ordered in “paint to match” Polar Silver, with FULL black leather interior, sunroof, and “werks” center console.
Shortly after the first owner (a wealthy Virginia attorney) took delivery the car was involved in an accident. There was damage to the top of the two front fenders and right rear quarter panel. He could not agree with the insurance company on how the car was to be repaired. The fenders could have easily been metal finished but he insisted that they be replaced. In the end he accepted a cash settlement from the insurance company.
The car was sold to its second owner who sent it to one of the Northeast’s most reputable restoration companies for the repair work. With over 30 years of experience restoring Porsches and other high-end collectable cars, the 993 was in excellent hands.
The shop owner has confirmed that the car suffered minor to moderate damage (no structural damage) in the accident and that the damage was easily repairable (photographs are available upon request). The bodywork was done to a very high standard and the paint was perfectly matched and applied to a concours standard. The original under hood paper sticker and door jam stickers are still on the car illustrating just how minimal the repairs were. When finished the shop owner said it was in “absolutely perfect shape”.
Recently new Michelin Pilot Sport tires were installed and a full service performed. This car is absolutely stunning and is cosmetically and mechanically like NEW. Bruce Canepa has personally driven the car and says it is “fabulous”!
