Default Response from Porsche re: Configurator

09/09/09 Note to Porsche:

The 2010 GT3 RS Configurator is up and running and here are my initial
observations:

1. When selecting red as the contrasting color, the wheels remain
silver.

2. Once White Gold is selected as the contrasting color, the system
will not allow you to switch back to red.

3. The seat belts are shown in Gold, when selecting White Gold as the
contrasting color. Is that correct?

4. Option CLA, from the Order Guide is missing.

5. Option 191 is a $1700 option in the order guide but included in the
standard features on the Configurator. Which is correct?

6. No Adaptive Sport Seats on the Configurator but heated seats are
listed. Is that correct?

7. Are the seats really covered in fire-retardent material or are they
leather?

8. What exactly is meant by silver painted wheels? Is that the same as
Titanium painted wheels in the regular
GT3 Configurator, or are they a lighter color?

It's deja vu all over again! We can never rely on published ordering
information. Damned frustrating, to say the least.

09/18/09 Response from Porsche:

Thanks for the note, the RS configurator was a little rushed due to our earlier PR announcement. Sorry you ran into that many bugs, we are aware of most and are working to solve them. Here are the specifics:

Items 1-3 are bugs in the 2D configurator but not an issue in the 3D version. FYI, we usually perfect the 3D first as this gives the best overall experience.

Item 4, option CLA is delayed until January production which is why it is not in the configurator

Item 5 is an error, the lightweight Lithium Ion battery is optional

Item 6 is an error, no adaptive sport seats and therefore no heated seats

Item 7, US seats are leather/alcantara. The flame retardant fabric seats is an EU option only

Item 8, wheels in silver are exactly that, the same silver on our normal production vehicles, not titanium

Again, sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

Thanks for doing the leg work (and beta-testing their junk.)

Interesting that PCNA figures US drivers don't mind burning in their seats.

And useful to know to use the 3D version as their priority.

No 90l for US.

Arm rest in Alcantara standard but if you want logo it's an option.

RS door sills have 3.8 RS logo standard and have been shown in CF, but haven't been able to confirm standard are actually CF. Logo is standard.

Porsche option shows optional equipment in their standard car photos. The put a small misnomer at the bottom. Yes, Carbon Sills are a $780 option and the Alcantaca center armrest/bin cover is a $490 option There is no 90L tank due to US crash pertection regulations.

Sure would be nice if the 3D configurator worked on a Mac.

I doubt it. On regular GT3, the centre armrest in alcantara is only standard if you select full leather.

Trust the guide, not the configurator:

Interior Equipment
Driver and passenger sport bucket seats with manual horizontal adjustment. RS 3.8 Logo embroidered in red in headrest. 3-Spoke GT3
steering wheel with steering wheel rim in Alcantara, including yellow 12 o'clock mark and leather-covered airbag module, manual height and
reach adjustment. Gear selector, hand brake grip, center armrest, and door armrest trimmed in Alcantara. Interior trim in soft-paint in black.
Various interior parts in Volcano gray. Roof liner in Alcantara. Seat belts in guards red. Automatic climate control with integrated carbon
filter. Door entry guards with “RS 3.8” logotype. Illuminated vanity mirror, driver and passenger.

I suppose they wanted to limit the configurator to *real* computers.

Just kidding. I recently bought a Macbook Pro and am loving it ...

The configurator...always a joke, not to be trusted.

Got to wonder if anyone at PCNA reads the "Order Guide"

Adaptive Sport Seats & Heating are an RS option for the Lazy Fat American market..

What do they do....Remove Heated Seats, but do not add Adaptive Seats

This may have been posted already but order guide shows the following standard equipment:
Dynamic engine mounts
Plastic rear window
RS logo in headrests
Seatbelts in guards red

The 3.8 sure has a lot more stuff to differentiate from the lesser Gt car than my 07 did. I'm thrilled to be getting one. Anyone want an orange 07?

Don't trust the order guide either. Yes, the door armrest is in alcantara because it has a new door panel (see thread - RS door panel pic). As for centre armrest, it's anybody's guess - the only way to find out is to look at the interior photos, if there are currently any, of the non-full leather RS.

My salesman just confirm me that Alcantara centre armrest is standard for the RS.

CF door sill guards optional extra

No 90L tank

and PCCB is still 50% less weight than the new Red.
