Reference the paint scheme: It looks to me like you need to specify option code 510 (contrasting color) to get the graphics and colored mirrors, etc. Does this mean that not checking option 510 leaves the mirrors, wing plates and front intake in body color? All white, for instance... Am I understanding this correctly?

^ That is how I read it too -- that is, if you don't select contrasting colors (which does not appear to mandatory), perhaps RS comes in plain color. Let's hope.

Skip the light weight headlamps! That´s just a nice way of saying halogen lamp. The main weight saving comes from the washer fluid (5 kg), not from the hardware (2 kg). I would say: Keep Xenons and just don´t fill any washer fluid. 2 kg of weight saving vs. MUCH better night view is an easy decision.

That is interesting; are you sure about this? Is it a separate tank, or is it the same used for the windshield washers, but larger if you have bi-xenon?

If you are right, then I agree; just keep it empty or remove it all together.

But, first off I read that the halogens save 6 kg (not 7) or just over 13 lbs.

I thought the xenons add the following parts: xenon headlights (are these alone any heavier than halogens?), motors for leveling the xenons (these could add some weight for sure), plumbing for washer jets, washer jets, pump/s for washer jets, car level change measuring gizmos on suspension (I think that is where they are, could more somewhere else), balasts, bi-xenon ECU (I saw this part for sale on Ebay or Suncoast Porsche; required to control all bi-xenon functions). I bet if you take all of these parts, and the possible increased weight of the bi-xenons alone, then I can easily see them adding up to around 13 lbs. Maybe there is an increase in volume of the washer fluid tank, but I doubt it amounts to 11 lbs of fluid (that would be almost 1.5 gallons extra!), which would take up significant extra space in the left wheel well.

What I hate mostly about the bixenons is the silly washer jets; who actually every used those, and if they are helpful in certain situations, then why not have them available for the halogens? They should make the washer jets a totally separate option available for both headlight choices. This would cut out the weight of the plumbing and nozzles/pumps and possibly any extra washer fluid if there is indeed more washer fluid.

The washer jets also look silly, and without them the front is just that much cleaner. But you could pull them out of the bumper along with all of the related items. Then you just buy the 997 headlight washer delete plugs from Eric at BumperPlugs.com and you are all set.

I like your thinking.

So...how much weight exactly does option 609, Deletion of Audio System, save?

Figure 5 lbs for the "head unit/display", 1 lb for the hard drive that supports it?

No? Yes? Anybody know for sure and kind enough to share?

Would be awesome to see a list of what an option such as Bluetooth, Univ Audio Interface or NAV for example would add in weight. If just software then that is weightless...

I am also drinking less beer. I figure I'm ahead of the game by 20 lbs. by the time the car arrives.

I will let you know as soon as I get motivated enough to remove mine. Don't forget the 4 basic speakers (2 in door and 2 on dash). My guess is 8 to 10 lbs total.
