i just completed a drive from california-ontario.... without a/c i would have been not only cooked in 104f desert heat but the window at night would have kept fogging up! the A/C blast was the only thing keeping the window fog free in colorado

Agreed! Our Dino doesn't have A/C, and I didn't have it in the Miura. Without A/C you have to choose completely different routes and/or times to travel. Modern A/C is relatively lightweight, works well and to my mind is a necessity for a car that is driven on the highway (at least in the West and South).

It was a 1969 Miura S. I wanted one since I was 13. I bought it in 1995 for $80K, spent over $200K restoring it and "making it drivable" (all when a perfect car was worth maybe $160K). Finally in 2007, I gave up on it and sold it at what luckily turned out to be near the top of the market for $390K. In a way, the Miura made it easy for me to buy the RS.
I wanted a fast car (that whole "racecar for the street" thing that the Miura was supposed to be) that I would enjoy driving, and was reliable enough to drive. My wife and I have a pair of Boxster Ss (2000 & 2001) that have close to 110K miles on (each) them, and they've been very reliable and still feel great after after a lot of use. And they're still fun to drive.
Like Nugget in another thread, I worried about rear-engine and 911-ishness. But so far, I've been very happy with the RS... almost waiting for the other shoe to drop.
