Order 997.2 GT3 or buy used 997.1 GT3
I am in the market for a GT3 and was looking for an opinion on a GT3 used vs new.
I have talked to my dealer about ordering the car
Base Model, $112,000
Basalt Black, $710
Sport Seats, $2990
Floor mats, $90
Sound package, $700
Bluetooth, $695
The car with these options will be $117,185. What kind of discount can I get from here? 2-5%?
Assuming I can get that car for $115,000. A used car seem to be going for around $90K. If I add the sport seats from suncoast it is an additional $6,000 bringing the car to $96,000.
For a delta less than $20K is it better to buy new or stick with used?
I figure in three years the new one will be worth $90K and the used one will be worth $60K.

Buy a used gen 1 GT3/RS, send it two sharkwerks for the 3.9 kit. You will be still be $20K ahead of the game and have a wonerful fast GT3!!! Wait until you see how much the sales tax and DMV fees are in Ca. for a new car!! You will be sending me Christmas cards every year once you drive your gen. 1 3.9.

New, unless the delta was at least $35k+, imo, more like $40k.
Anyway, consider all the changes on the .2, CLs (lighter), bigger/lighter brakes, much improved torque and 20 HP doesn't hurt, revised suspension ala GT2 w/improved rear springs, improved rear brake venting/cooling, lack of sunroof, dramatically improved downforce, weight reduction of rear frame (where the rear seat would go), improved interior touches, etc... Add to that a much longer warranty and that a three year older car alone would bring about $18k-$20k less anyway. There are as many changes/improvements to the facelift as there has been to previous model changes. And,I do think you are spot on with the residuals: two-three years later $60k for a MY2007 and $90k for a MY2010. The only real difference being that you tied up another $20k-$30k, but didn't lose it. At a delta of $20k, no brainer. Just my thoughts.
Oh, I had the same concerns and ordered a fall build 2010. Good luck.

This car is on the show room, I am considering it in lieu of ordering....$123,600K sticker. It just does not have sport seats
White
Natural leather
Adaptive sport seats
Sound package
Fire Extinguisher
Sport Crono
Universal Audio
Floormats
I am curious what kind of discount they will give on this car
