Hey fellas a few of you were asking about the sway bar... It's actually thicker than the 997.1 version and a different part number.... Here you go:

Engine looks great without cosmoline. What did you use to remove it and how long did that take? Is the front swaybar thicker too?

I would think that you would want to switch to the 997.2 GT3 springs and front bar also, if you were inclined to change the rear bar. Are there any other major suspension components that are different on the latest GT3?

Can you check if the pre-wiring is present for the dynamic motor mounts???
(connectors in the engine bay by the current mounts tied to the harness)

• New wheel carriers on the front axle (like the 911 GT2) to reduce the tendency to understeer and improve driving stability at high speeds
• New spring, damper and anti-roll bar tuning with reduced-weight springs on the rear axle.

This is what I posted on the first night... in the rear you can see the different style "springs". Using a larger diameter coil with less windings that's capable of supporting the same load (rate) reduces unsprung mass. In other words the spring is lighter but does the same job as before on the Mk1:P:


Just driving it the car is what you'd call more compliant on bumpy roads and less 'twitchy'.

I thought in the initial press release they said they would be using less sway bar because they upped the spring rate?

Can anyone check if this is the same rear bar as the gt2?

I'm now running gt2 rear bar on softest of the 3 holes - what hole does this bar come on?

I believe this is the way the engine's are coming on the .2 gt3's, or least so far.

hey paul, I remember reading that too but if they're "upped" the spring rate I can tell you I can't "feel" that. If anything the whole ride etc... does "feel" softer. I don't have PET in front of me but I seem to remember the GT2 bar being different. Comes on tight....

The only thing that is not bigger/stiffer on the MKII is the front sway bar, which is thinner. Since the springs and shocks got stiffer, they probably went to the smaller front bar to get more turn-in. Since understeer wasn't really a problem on the MKI, the bigger rear bar is probably for more fun.
