Did you guys know that the back seat....
There is a thread that comes up every model year about putting back seats
in the GT3. Did you guys know that in the 09 997S the back seat can be totally removed? If Porsche does that why not issue back seats for GT3 owners for emergency situations like childbirth. Designated driving (drunk chick in the back)
and hauling 30 YO beach chick hitchikers to her next destination?(with Wifey in the front seat)
I believe this is a very important issue. We should drop the health care debate
and take this up for discussion.
If Porsche is not going to issue the roll bar for free then in the US they should issue the back seat pads.

For the MKII it appears doubtful as they made a change to
omit the body structure reinforcements for the seat belts of the rear seat
assembly through a change in the production technology.

The rear seats are deleted to save a few pounds. I wonder if there are certification issues as well?

Thought I saw a MKII with a roll bar and the side attachment points were still there.

I asked my dealer about installing the seat belt in the rear right seat area, since I have a 2 1/2 year old. He said that their motor sport division can do it. We'll see in December. My daughter wont need an actual seat, just a recaro booster seat, so will be perfect. To be used maybe once or twice a week, but its good to know she'll be able to tag along in this car when needed.

I inquired about back seats for my 997 GT3 from a local dealer. They would do it and cost was
$6K..use 997 seats and backs, etc......
I haven't had it done so please don't flame me that:
I don't love my kids
I'm taking a serious risk
I'm not responsible..yada, yada,yada..
I've seen it done in a fellow renlisters 996 GT3 and it turned out nice (and safe)

as i understand,it can be done for much less $$ on a 997.1 and it's not feasable on the 997.2 gt3 because they changed the underbody structure as mjones mentioned.
alas, the back seat addition to c63 black is supposed to be awesome, perish the thought
