First, Road and Track has normally more conservative numbers than Car and Driver or Motor Trend. Second, Car and Driver only put out an estimate...as well as Motor Trend. Neither have fully tested a car yet. Here are some other results from Road and Track for comparison:
1/4 mile times
12.4@113.8 - 2004 996 GT3
12.1@116.6 - 2008 997 GT3 RS
11.7@121.2 - 2007 997 Turbo
11.7@121.3 - 2008 Gallardo Superleggera
12.0@119.6 - 2008 F430
11.7@120.1 - 2005 F430
11.7@125.8 - 2006 Ford GT
12.2@120.7 - 2006 Corvette Z06
11.7@122.8 - 2008 Viper SRT10 (600hp version)
12.3@118.3 - 2006 Viper SRT10 (500 hp version)
Specs wise their Euro car should be almost dead on with a US version. Engine, suspension and emissions are now the same. The single piece Euro seats are 10 lbs a seat lighter than sport buckets. Add the club sport 4-point cage and it should be a wash.
Last, when Road and Track lists a test weight; it includes the weight of the driver and any test equipment. For example the curb weight of the 996 GT3 they tested was 3160 lbs, right in with what a fully loaded 2004 really does weigh. Their test weight was 3340 lbs. Kudos for Road and Track being the only ones who include the weight of the driver.

Test weight was 3,240 pounds with PCCB's and Carbon Racing Shells. How does that compare to the 997.1 GT3?
EDIT: I see now that the test weight includes driver - sounds pretty light (though I wouldn't be surpirsed if R&T just added the weight of their driver to the published Curb Weight, rather than actually weighing it).

The good thing about the GT3 is that you don't need to be a master plumber like when you own a Japanese turbo rocket. You don't miss too many sessions rearranging hoses.
