Picked up an interesting data point on the Front Lift System in the 911&Porsche World review of the GT3. The review claims that the Mk2 front lip clearance is 30mm lower than the Mk1, resulting from combo of suspension changes and different lower lip. Assuming this is true then front lift system only nets back difference to stock Mk1 clearance and only at low speeds.
Does make you question the value of paying $3,400 to get low speed clearance that's only equal to Mk1 especially when you consider how often Mk1 owners are replacing front spoilers.
I'd already decided to pass on the option prior to learning this but others still on the fence might want to consider whether it makes sense.

Not sure how correct that article would be. The mkI was a fairly low 90+ mm which would make the mk2 60+ mm off the ground.... Sounds unusual... Also if their claim was true, all the more reason to fit as you won't be losing lips, you'll be ripping off bumpers.
Furthermore, I recall Porsche claiming that the lift system was designed to give the gt3 similar clearance to a regular 911 when raised to aid clearance.
That article's claim contradicts all of this...

Chassis
• Lowered by approximately 1.2 inches (30 mm) as compared to the 911 Carrera
If Gen2 were lowered 30mm vs Gen 1....You could NOT drive the car period.
Believe ride height will remain the same.

- pictures alone show the lip to be at similar hights
- as stated above, if it was 30mm lower, it would be about 2 1/2 inches off the ground
- currently at 3 3/4 inches it gets very close to the ground during brake dive - even with the very slight spring rate increase in the front at 2 1/2 inches it would be scraping in hard brake zones
- the suspension geometry changes likely lowers the CG (excellent) but the front bumper and lip are likely less agressive (in depth) to offset this
- if you look at pics of the new lip you will see that the edges protrude forward more (when close to the wheels - i.e. the sides of the front bumper lip) this is key (if you look at the RSR you will see this is where the obvious aero parts are)
- also i would bet that simply by setting the ride height 2 mm higher in the rear and 2 mm lower in the front with this slightly protruding front lip is all that was really done (net / net) to get this substantially better "aero" upgrade (but protruding lip and slight increase in angle on attack = some gt3 owners complaining = $3000 lift package)
