Default First Canadian GT3 997.2 off the boat in Halifax

Hi All,

July 18th, 2009: I just received word from my dealer this morning that my new GT3 is off the boat and about to be shipped by truck to Calgary. It should arrive in town with within 7 days. After PDI, I'll have the whole front end, hood, fenders, mirrors and lights 3M'ed, and be ready "action". A 2000km (1242 mile) roadtrip trough the rockies and into BC is planned before it's first track event on August 1st.

FYI - My Specs are as follows:

GT Silver
Standard sport seats
Self dim mirrors and rain sensor
Thick smooth leather steering wheel (arriving late: 10/2009)
Smooth leather gear lever
Univerisal audio interface
Black foor mats

.......and that's it!

It was supposed to arrive by Monday July 20th, but a few extra days shouldn't be too hard on me - I hope!

Cheers!
Doug N.

PS. Does anyone have a Rennlist technical assistance phone number or e-mail because I would like to change my username? The generic Rennlist e-mail gives no response. Thx DN

I didn't know there was such an option. What's the option code number? Does it include leather handbrake?

Thanks.

Hi again,

FYI: Built date (complete) was June 22nd and it was "on vessel" July 3rd, the orginal "off load" date was supposed to be about July 10th or 11th in Halifax, I don't know where it has been for about a week (it was driving me freaking bonkers!).

_rocket: the option you asked about is "offically": Gear lever trim in leather (Exclusive) - option order #: XDZ, this is for the gear shift only and it does not include the hand brake (that would be more $$!).

I personally prefer leather to alcantera on the "grip" surfaces, as I find it extemely slippery and I am not a fan of gloves - even in -10 below, or when washing dishes (heck, I had to earn this new machine some how - thanks Honey!).

IllM3/Martin: Thanks I will do my best, I too came from BMW, a modded Z4M Coupe, I kept dreaming about my past 911, and soon I will be back.

Cheers!

Sorry but you didn't order a leather gear lever. XDZ is a leather console trim piece situated between the shift boot and front section of centre console.

Doug if you are a BMW guy, you are most definitely a Porsche guy too hah.. My M3 day's were a long time ago, then M5, ordered new M3 to replace it but got damaged, suffice to say I still love those M cars but nothing compares to a Porsche.. Been in the porsche game for past 4 years or so, 993TT, 996TT now my RUF GT2, and it is in my blood forever

Again, enjoy the car to the fullest!

Hey _rocket,

I had another look at the car configurer and think you are indeed correct - I was misinformed on that particular choice, also the description is a bit ambiguous. Thanks for pointing that out - I'll have to have a "chat" with my dealer. It shouldn't be too much of an issue to order a smooth leather gear **** after the fact to match the smooth leather wheel which will arrive late.

If this is the only real mistake in my order, I will be pleased.

Cheers!

Congradulations on the new ride, I have a 2011 GT3 on my wish list, I'm enjoying my 996 GT3 at the moment but would really like to get a new 2011. To bad we are losing race city, you are going to need some place to unleash the new car. You should consider Millar motor sports park in Sept, there is a PCA event and 5 of us from Edmonton are going down for 3 days on sept 25,26, 27.

Thanks for the heads up on Millar in Sept, but I'll be saving my "excursions" state-side for 2010 when Race City here in Calgary closes as you mentioned this year. I'm planning an early Spring trip to California.

Cheers!

I saw a silver GT3 MKII in Germany. Though I would have never ordered it before seeing it, I was very impresssed with how it looked! Can't wait to see pics of yours out on the Rockies Road Trip!

Default UPDATE !

Update: GT3's are awaiting final certification for the North American market but look like they will begin to ship by mid next week (the week of July 26th, note info was specific to my inquiry in Canada).

So, perhaps I will receive it the first week in August.

Cheers!
