Do you really need front axle system at 3490$. I would by 5 spare lip spoiler at 250$ each and be done with it. The GT3 is low but not that low. Most guys I know lower them a tad more and still manage in and around town.

Reason to order Sport Chrono? Do you like the Wart?
Doesn't even tell time as the Panamera Chrono will.

You still get Sport button in GT3 without ordering sport chrono right?

If I don't get it, I guarentee it will get scraped just driving it home from the dealer. My Carrera already scrapes all the time. It is just an issue I deal with from my driveway and some of the local streets. My Carrera only has a ROW M030 suspension and no front lip, yet scrapes all the time. With the GT3, the front lip is guarenteed to scrape day one. Plus, it is going to allow me to lower the car more and still get a jack underneath. I will even be able to drive up ramps without scraping the spoiler. I scrape the bottom of the bumper driving up ramps in my Carrera.

The only option I was really questionable on was the dynamic engine mounts. I finally decided to pull the trigger on them. Keep in mind the Dynamic Engine Mounts are not available before September and Front End Lift before October. They moved me back to the last allocation they received so I could get both options.

You will notice what is not on the list, those frilly options: full leather, leather this and that, carbon this and that. This is a GT3 after all, not a Turbo Tip Cab (luxocruiser). Sports Chrono is on it for exactly what it was designed to be used for...lap times. Originally I did not like the "wart", but found it pretty nice when I drove a friends 997.

Front end lift is specced to raise the front end by 1.2"

From Porsche:

Our engineers have developed a new ride-height lift system for the front axle. The front of the vehicle can now be lifted by 1.2 inches (30 mm) if there is a risk of grounding, which will enable curbs, ramps, and garage entrances to be negotiated more easily and with more precision than other sports cars similar to the new 911 GT3.

A compressor generates air pressure that lifts the front shock absorbers in PASM.

The optional lift system is activated and deactivated by a button on the center console*. It can be operated either while stationary or while travelling at a speed of up to approximately 31 mph.

This is a good example of how our race engineers still consider everyday use.
I saw a picture of the system. It is basically airbags on the top of the springs on the struts, similar to pre-load springs on coilovers. I heard Porsche is getting the system from KW and price is to match the price of the KW system on the aftermarket. I can still change my order and in fact can hold it up a month from going in. My car won't be built until October/November.

Does anyone know the 997.2 GT3 ground clearance in front? My lowered 996 is 4 5/8" at the lip...just wondering how much lower the '3 will be.

The system that you saw was not the system on the GT3 from Porsche...as their system has NO air bags, and as such the lifting operation is completed in approximately 2- 3 seconds.
"Pneumatic connecting lines feed the pressure generated in the function module to the lower chambers of the PASM dampers on the front axle. For the lift function, the conventional PASM dampers in the lower area were given an additional compressed air connection."
Here is a pic of the system:

Suggest that you try the Chrono interface in a track setting...when you are busy and see how it works for you.
The interface is not user friendly.

Have yet to talk to anybody that has successfully used it
A reminder: With no PCM it will not record multiple Lap times.
You will end up with just a wart on your dash.

Suggestion: maybe you would be better off putting the money for the Sports Chrono towards an aftermarket lap timer of some desciption. Plant your transponder on the side of the track and have it do the timing for you????

Does Porsche offer an option to remind you to stop and lift the front end BEFORE you scrape it? Just wondering

It sounds like a great option but just how valuable is it if YOU don't know or remember to use it just one time? I like the idea a lot but I question its value - a lot. It's only as good as you are.

Measured the static display one yesterday at 10cm (that's under 4")

The front lip on it was very scratched!

Keep in mind we are told that you can retrofit these if you do not build it on the car initially. May be more expensive that way. However, it gives you a choice to hear more reviews once these cars start to hit the tracks.
