Has anyone had a problem with this? I've searched the forum and couldn't find any references to it.
I am on a second set of these linkages in the GT3! It started with a knocking sound from the front, i then took it to the local OPC who informed me that these linkages are bent/broken. We replaced them and no it has happened again!
Why?
Apart from the occasional trackday, the car is driven on "normal" New Zealand roads, has never been bumped/hit or kerbed. Why is this happening to the GT3 - it doesn't happen on any other Porsche over here. It is peculiar to the car?
Frustrated and annoyed!

This has happened to me on my '02 but not my '04 GT3 probably because my '02 is a daily driver. It's to the point where the dealer uses grease to reduce the knocking. It's very annoying and I don't track the car or aim for potholes!

Mine broke over the 1st winter.
Replace with adjustable links by Tarret or TRG. Both very solid and won't break. Also, will make it very easy to adjust your sway bar settings.

They bend or break, normal.
Get adjustable ones (Tarett Engineering's Ira has them a good prices). They won't bend or break, and you can dial out the stock sway bar pre-load.

You lost me on this one how can you have pre-load on a sway bar link. the links work against each other but the load has to start out at zero? I never saw a need to upgrade the sway links maybe this is the reason if they don't hold up.

I sold my 996GT3 with almost 25,000 miles and never had a sway bar link problem. App. 5000+ miles were Autox. and 2000 miles of track. I tried the aftermarket links for a couple of days and promptly sold them. The fastening position on the side of the front strut really torques the front sway bar when you turn the wheel which caused massive understeer on turn in while Autox.

Do I need to take out the front suspensions to replace the links? If yes, I would most likely need an another alignment, right? Mine are making knocking noises too. Thanks.

I have not looked to closely but I do not think it is difficult to get to the front links. the sway bar and the links will not alter the current alignment you should be ok to just go in and replace. If you call the guys at Tarett, the link above they can walk you through the process. I bought the rear toe links and they sent me instruction sheet with torque specs and all. Should be an easy job, You might have to take off some of the underside plastic shielding. but that is not difficult either.

Thanks for the input, Todd.
I checked again and yes, that pinch bolt on the shock is the one confusing and making me think that I would need to remove the shocks, hence I need to redo the alignment. Thanks.
