Buying from a dealer is never advisable if you want the best price. You'll do better buying from a fellow Rennlister...

When I sold my 996 GT3 I disclosed that it had been tracked a lot but also had a lot of track upgrades like floating rotors, cup car suspension parts, Guards LSD as well as half cage and harness. The buyer was looking for a track car and wanted all the mods without having to pay full price for them.

My car happens to be selling through a dealer that can provide financing actually if you like a red gt3 that already has a great alignment and second set of wheels/r6's. I'm going through my dealer for the paperwork because of local tax reasons, I only have to pay the difference between the two cars not the entire new car.

I'll confirm this. Just picked up a CPO from a dealer. 5K miles. 93. On the other hand, options can add up.
Same rationale that the prior owner of my car had (and if the buyer is trading in, it's a consideration in the other direction as well).

i have sold two cars here for prices i think (at the time) is fair to both me and the buyer. however, i usually sell to dealers and take 10k less b/c the transaction takes less than 30min.
then what i found out often is some guy i know would then go buy the car at the marked up price from dealer instead of from me... oh well. (yes, they know it was my car when they buy it from dealer)
in CA, doesn't matter whom you buy or sell from/to we have the PRIVILEGE of paying tax on the FULL amount, not just the difference.

Mooty,
when are all the hard-working, right-thinking folks going to leave that state?
when i lived there briefly in the 60's it was like Heaven. now it is Hell...
