Default GT2 at Monticello

Having some fun in the Member's North Course after my Cayman racecar PS lines failed (yet again!, but a different one )

... and one of my buddies making fun of a few opposite lock moments we had

I always drive with ALL aids off. Is the only way were the car really does wnat you want when giving it opposite lock.

The first was a throrttle induced power slide.
The second one was momentum induced that required correction plus a downshift to get enough torque to pull it out

It did not look like the computer was on!
On my car the traction control is to intrusive! wish I could turn off the TC and keep the SC.

Well, the Cayman is all sorted out and on Hoosiers (big difference).

The first slide in the GT2 was on purpose, but what is impressive about that car is the rate of acceleration. Those rubber marks were like 70-80 yards long (check the GT2 laps video and you can see the marks appear on the next lap at 2:05 and end by 2:09 at the end of the exit rumble strip. The car spins the tires all 2nd gear from 30 to 80mph... too much fun!

What you really want to be sideways is turn off SC.
Try it next time at a track that has plenty of runoff and you will get confident that the rear end is easy to catch. The car is very controllable as any 997.

Just bear the fact that the power is non-linear (with throttle) and if you lift too much boost goes down and it bogs, so it can easily tank slap and throw you to the outside instead. The better strategy is too keep it floored and apply lock as needed allowing the LSD to do its job while returning the steering to its centre.

I never though I would want to turn it off but after one lapping day I do!

Have to find a safe track as you said.

G, don't pay attention to CG. He has been driving cars at the limits longer that we have been around planet Earth, and I'm not kidding.

Rad,
Are you calling me Old?
You are not much younger than me (I think), and you reached the Ferrari midlife crisis first

Loving Monticello in my GT2.. Car is sorted now so to speak, feels great, clocked a 2:48-2:49 first day.. Getting real comfy with it and loving it, couldn't say the same for beginning of the day, it was a mess in each group, especially red and black with people being sent home and done for the day on the track, crazy, very strict...

Tomorrow should be a great day
