The 09-11 GT-R is not only faster in a straight line than the GT3 but it's ALSO FASTER in the "turns"

The 2012 is EVEN FASTER still.

You're probably right, but I'm just not a fan of the GT-R. It's big, heavy, AWD, and is numb to drive. The computer does most of the driving. The lap times may be quicker, but they sure don't feel quicker. Great car, but not one I would buy. Does it come with a fortune cookie in the glovebox?

it can be as fast as F117, but it's not a porsche.
some will buy p some will buy GTR as it's a legend in its own right.
and i have have a buddy who has both.
but to discuss which car is faster... i think you missed the point.

The question is not the GT-R performance but who would revive a two-year old thread? Dear gawd man! Have you no respect for the dead????

With appreciation for the GT-R's capability and marketing, I thought this was pretty funny:

However, the GT-R is insanely quick and very competent. I put my money on the Porsche GT3 as a precision tool that I can connect with as a driver and owner. I thought GT-R for a long time,... but I know I will never bond with it as I will with a GT3.

What exactly do the results prove anyway? The GT3 wins as many fastest laps as the GTR and the GTR is fastest till 100kmh before it's on the back foot despite it's double clutch gearbox.... Mind you, the only major win is at the NBR and that is the Nissan time that nobody has gotten within 20sec off other than Mr Suzuka who claims the car was stock... Even with the top gear lap time, you're comparing a single lap (no practice) time from the TG magazine for the GT3 to a fully rehearsed lap time from the show for the GTR... In the mag, the lambo that came first ran over 2sec slower than it's show time!

Chris Harris ran a lap time 6-7 sec faster around the NBR in the damp with a GT2 when the 4wd GTR should have been in it's element...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq1UZ...e_gdata_player

In the written article he went to lengths to point out that he had to ***** foot the GT2 around that day due to the moisture and could easily see where it would make up 17 sec and even more. With the GTR, he said that the 4wd allowed him to stay on the gas most of the way and that he could maybe extract another 5-6 sec... He could not see how anyone could better that by another 30sec as claimed...

Notice how the world is no longer talking about the GTR? Unless its about the $1k tranny service after doing a couple laps at the local track...
