Question 67L or 90L FUEL TANK?

For GT3, now the 90L fuel tank is a no cost option.

67L or 90L?

Why?

90L tank only for LHD?

It was an option in the past as well for the Europe region, I don't believe we got the choice here in North America. If given the choice, I'd definitely go for the 90L because the smaller tank doesn't give you much range on the racetrack. If you go with the 67L tank, become good friends with the gas station owner near your favourite track, because you'll be spending a lot of time with him.

Here in the UK, our fuel costs about £1 per litre and in my all my 19 years on the road I never had a full tank costing more than £55, so a 90-litre tank sounds ridiculous to me. I wouldn't pay £90 for a full tank

I read somewhere that GT3's came standard with C4 front bulkhead, which has a housing for 4WD front gearbox, so a bigger tank could be fitted in. Many people confuse the C4 bulkhead for additional body strength but it's not for that, it's for the tank. I wonder if 997.2 GT3 with 67L tank now comes standard with a C2 front bulkhead?

All ROW 997.1 GT3's came standard with a 90-litre tank so I'd like to know why it has been changed to 67L anyway.

i just bought a 997 90L tank for my 997RS. It costing me the tank and swap.

if given the choice, definitly get it! your crusing range is greatly increased as well as your track time.

(if you dont like it, simply dont fill it up all the way LOL!)

Let me know what is involved, I would love to not have to gas up every 2 sessions! Sometimes when I have a student and no time in between and the car runs out of gas every +/-90 miles, less than an hour on track......

I got a 90L tank from a 997 CUP car which was converted to fuel cell from new. (im to understand that the CUP tank and 90L euro street tank are the same...)

Werks II wil be doing the swap and im hoping that all goes well.

I will certainly let you know and post the results of the experiment on Rennlist.

I know of two sitting in S.Calif. collecting dust and I am sure there are many more at GMG, Assco etc.

I'm told this is not an option for june/july builds and has never been offered in america to begin with (like the club sport)

I agree with you guys though, the tanks are too small for getting 6mpg.. I have to take 10 gallons of gas with me to drive for a full day without having to leave the track.

Further proof of needing more fuel capacity, I recently did a 3 hour endurance race but you had to do it on one tank of gas.. So guys started looking at mini's and miatas.. we picked a honda CRX, great car and won 3rd place with it.

The car that won, was an older 1990's Ferrari 4 seater with a *30* gallon gas tank.. who would have even thought of that. and amazingly a guy got a 996 gt3 to make fuel, maybe he had the 90l tank :P

Maybe just like the Clubsport package and Bucket seats are FREE for the ROW 996 GT3, but not anymore for the 997.

Your RS comes with 67L tank?

The RS body is that of the 4wd body turbo and carrera 4. The 4wd variant needed the extra space in the body for the all wheel drive equipment and thus lost 90L tank as result switching to the 67L.

the RS has the room for the 90L and has it in ROW.
North Americans only got the smaller 4wd tanks for reasons of either DOT,gas guzzler tax issues, or required crash impact testing. (i presume....)

I don't think it has anything to do with regulations. Once again it's probably one of the stupid decisions made by Porsche North America.
Same reason we were stuck with a sunroof for the 2007 GT3 or no Club Sport option.
