Not just RS. Standard GT3's also had carrera 4 front bulkhead.

The 4wd variant needed the extra space in the body for the all wheel drive equipment and thus lost 90L tank as result switching to the 67L.
4wd variant didn't "lost" the 90L tank - it just didn't need it. Did you know that even 2wd variants (Carrera and Carrera S) have 67L tank, even in Europe?

I still presume correctly that 4wd variant cant have the 90L tank?

Yes, i do know that 2wd variants (except for GT3/GT2) in europe also have the 76L tank. All 997's come with standard 67L tank. The 90L is the "cherry on top" tank.

Being able to option the 90L tank is awesome!

The Mk1 ROW has a 90 liter tank and to me it´s one of the outstanding features of the car. 900 km of highway cruising on one tank is something unheard of for a performance car. Also, you can experiment with a different weight distribution when you fill it up because 90 liters of fuel is substantially felt.

The Mk2 comes standard with a smaller tank, but the 90 liter is still available as a no cost option. I don´t know why they made this change and I would be very surprised if the cars with the smaller tank offered a bigger luggage space.

Yep, but in the UK (RHD) we are stuck with the 67L tank.

Not a problem because it's 52 lbs lighter than 90L.

Hows that? 23 litres of petrol weigh about 16kg = 35lbs.......

Guy

PS I did like having the 92l tank on my 993RS Surrey UK to Nurburgring on one tank.....

It used to be the case that the EPA would measure on "half full" tank. Of course a more rational measurement would be on a standard that doesn't attract a weight penalty. Anyway, perhaps the rules have changed in recent years.

There's also luggage capacity -- I presume the 90l tank consumes some of the frunk space.

Nice to see "what is old is new again"

It's a nice option.

No difference on trunk capacity. It installs through the bottom, after you remove the front suspension.

I got the 52 lb figure from Excellence (US mag). I guess they got their sums wrong, so yes you're right - it's about 35, well 37 lbs heavier. But the larger tank itself (dry) is obviously a few pounds heavier as well.

Say what?! Anybody got the TSB on that? I guess it's for 2WD only and uses the space of what would be the front pumpkin, but still, I imagine they want it low and inside the wheelbase, so that might spare (pun) the frunk space.

Don't be silly! Just get the bigger tank, if the extra weight of fuel/tank bothers people for track use just fill it half full as others have mentioned on here!

Yeah, but my dealer says the 90L is only for Germany?
