great write up....it seems as though you are right on target with your assessments, and that can be hard to do. I'm sure you'll have a great season and drive her home after each event

Red Mist. At VIR in Nov 2007 a C5 Vette on slicks hit the bridge on his warm up lap, temp in the low 30's. Looked like the car was totaled. I always remember that on my 1st session of the day.

All good to think about. goes back to a thread I recall about "winning my DE". If we were not competitive we would be spending our time fishing, Not that there is anything wrong with fishing. But you have to have a little juice in the blood to do this anyway.

The guys that run our track has a great saying: "if you are here to race you are at the right place, just the wrong day". Drivers hear it first at the drivers meeting if you hear it again it is after they pulled you of the track and send you home.

I am not advocating racing or breaking any DE rules. I have to enforce them, all I am suggesting is we all get a little amped up doing this stuff, its good to put it in perspective now and then. When I get a bit charged up, I like to pull out the payment book just to remind me how many more months before I can say I own it.

Farz, it was wicked lapping with you that day! if it makes you feel any better i got a lecture for a full 10 minutes from the wife about getting competitive and "causing the guy in the nice red car" to go off (she was in the in the car with me.) so apparently it was my fault! anyways i should be at shannonville on the 30th and we can continue to share some a lapping fun hopefully continue not to share out paintwork!

The most important thing is that there were no injuries or damage. You writing about this is a great reminder not to exceed our abilities or the capabilities of our cars. I have also gotten myself into this type of situation and I don't have the valid excuse of it being my first track day or having a new set of tires. Thanx.

FC-Racer, all I could think was "don't read thios post, it will not be pretty".
Glad to hear that was not the case.
Those darn GT2's have so much torque coming out of the corners, they are amazing!

Farz, I'm glad you and your car came out unscathed. Have fun out there, but not too much fun.

It is fairly common that someone will put their car off first event of the year... We see it year in and year out.
Over the winter we make changes, upgrade things, and generally forget how to drive and first event out we think we can pick right up where we left off last season.
Glad things are ok, and when I see you next remember to ask me about the ex club racing champ who put his car on top of the wall outside of three at Mosport on his third lap of the season.....

I've done probably 100+ track days over 11 years and almost invariably see 1 thing every time - I myself have done it a few times, so no I'm not immune. So what is it?
Hauling *** the first session out.
