Thumbs down Sneed Insurance

Some of you may have noticed that this agency placed an ad in the latest Pano.(see page55).
Well, I called them today to get a quote on my Porsche and discovered that I would not be covered if my car were physically at a race track even if I was just spectating.
So,in other words if I were to take my car to the Rolex race at NJMP in May ,parked it and watched the race my car would not be covered.
I said to them,"you must be kidding",and they said "nope".
So without actually seeing it ,their exclusion section must read in part "at a race track" rather then "on a race track".
My closing comment to them was that they must not really be intested in insuring many Porsches. However,if you have no plans to ever attend any sort of event being held at a race track, perhaps this is the company for you.
I'm gonna pass.

Thanks for looking out Tom

Wow, that is almost unbelievable.
I'd call again and if it's a different person ask the question again and see what answer #2 was.

Also Sneed requires that the car be driven less than 3,000 miles per year for '08 GT3 in Texas.

It sounds like this outfit is trying hard not to attract business.

I looked at other "collector" and "exotic" car insurance today because of this thread, and they actually priced out higher with more restrictions than having two cars with a more traditional allstate/farmers type of company. geico is insanely cheap right now, my gt3 and honda pilot are only 2k a year and I'm 29 (clean record)

Be sure to check the "exclusions" portion of your policy. The terms,"in", "on" and "at" seem to be used interchangably when it comes to a race track. These three words have distinct and different meanings and you could easily find yourself in a situation where you and your car are not covered.

Anybody here ever do" laps for charity" ?Guess what, your not covered.Even if its your family sedan and not your Porsche.

Bottom line is these companies want your premium dollar but are not necessarily willing to offer the coverge you need.Due diligence is the key.

YOU GUYS PRICE SHOPPING FOR YOU HIGH DOLLAR CARS ARE CRAZY!! DONT BE FOOLED BY LOW PRICE PREMIUMS, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO IF YOUR CAR GETS HIT AND GEICO, ALLSTATE ETC WANT TO PUT AFTERMARKET PARTS ON YOUR GT3?? YOU MAY BE PAYING THE DIFFERENCE FOR OEM IF YOU WANT THEM.

IM AN APPRAISER FOR TRAVELERS IN NY (WE WILL ONLY USE A/M LAMPS AND RADIATOR/COND) IF YOU CAR HAS MORE THAT 15KMI. THESE OTHER COMPANIES WILL USE AFTERMARKET BUMPERS, FENDERS, HOODS ETC WHATEVER IS AVAILABLE.

THE LAWS VARY GREATLY FROM STATE TO STATE, BUT IN NY WHEN YOU SIGN YOUR POLICY, YOU ARE ACCEPTING THESE TERMS.

READ YOUR POLICY AND ASK QUESTIONS SOONER RATHER THAN WHEN YOU NEED TO MAKE A CLAIM....

F.Y.I.

I have my eighteen (18) Porsches insured with METLIFE through an independent agent.

This policy includes three (3) GT3rs as well as my '74 3.0rsr

ALL of the Porsches have a "stated value" clause which I determined price.

$7,800.oo per year for the complete collection.

I've been with MetLife for 4 years and They have been great.

Worth a call !!!

if you street your car, get insurance from a big company.
if you track your car, either write it off in your head and bank account or get track insurance.
**** happens. it happened to me many many times.

I found Geico to be way overpriced. I went with USAA and they quoted me half of what I was paying Geico. They also accept receipts for any modifications you have done and re-emburse you on those too if you wreck.

I would never do business with GEICO for another reason - they have been in the forefront of lobbying efforts to make radar detectors illegal.

GEICO and their radar detector policy means they will never have my business. This practice has been in place for years.
