With a midship car ie boxster rotating is not the major issue a little trailbraking will coax it but a high lockup on coast side(decel) of LSD acts like an anvil for the rear. Boxster is a momentum car-with high lockup on decel u lose lotta exit speed- that will not help at all- u be better off with no diff then with that high lockup. Mike

I just tried mine, one wheel up, the other spins free, no resistance at all.

Does this mean it is shot?

I see, I am thinking about doing the same the same thing, just to feel the difference on track, if they do it under warranty.

But what good does that do? You will still have a unit that doesn't hold but a few foot pounds of torque, or if it does, only for a short time. The tires cannot be fooled as easily. Check its torque and let us know.

Exactly, if you rebuild stock you are only going to be good for a few events and then back in the same boat. I am going to the rebuild mine with the good stuff, right Joel.

Mine was tested today by Porsche and it is fine! My car has 40,000 km and 5 track days in two years.

Concur. If you are doing track events and having the LSD refreshed do so with better materials not the street stock pieces (one option is the Cup Car ones). If you are doing so under warranty I doubt the dealership can upgrade (liability concerns).

It's on their dime. I doubt they will upgrade but I will ask when I deliver the car. Hey, I'm not a track guy, my car is driven very modestly on public roads, always within the limits of the law......... well mostly.

Save your strength. They will simply tell you there is no problem, and there is no upgrade. No point bashing your head against a wall. If you want to let them do their thing, then let them do their thing. All I am saying is, it is probably a waste of your time. Also, if they don't shim it correctly (really tough to do in the car), it will then give you excess wear on either your carrier bearings or your ring & pinion. Then it will be your fault for tracking the car.

- porsche saying it is fine and it being fine are possibly 2 different things
- may still want to see (with your own eyes) the tq required on a tq wrench attached to a wheel nut with one wheel in the air to spin the wheel - this way you can monitor it changing
