Default More GT3 LSD Questions

Following on from the other thread on LSD...

Here's what I did to check if my LSD is good or not:

Jacked up the car from behind so that both rear wheels were up in the air. Then with handbrake off and,

1) In 2nd gear - if I rotated one rear wheel then the other rotated as well.

2) In Neutral - if I rotated one rear wheel then the other moved just a little, little bit.

Is the LSD good or worn out???

Thanks in advance...

1) I take it the wheel rotated the opposite direction, like an open diff ?

2) In the same direction ? ... or opposite direction ? If same direction, you still have an inkling of lock up.

The LSD needs new friction discs at the very least, and just having the LSD rebuilt under warranty will just get you the same stock discs installed.

This is what I am told, Have not done it yet. You need to jack up one side of the car to free one wheel leave the opposite side on ground or use a wheel chalk to hold it in place. the best way to do this is to get a socket that will fit the axle nut in the center of the wheel or as a second choice put a torque wrench on a lug nut. Start at 5 ft lbs and see how high you have to go with the torque wrench to turn the wheel. When the car is IN GEAR. 20 to 40 ft lbs would be ok.

Have not done it yet, went to do it today but needed a bigger socket, and I did not want to do the lug nut approach because i want an accurate reading.
