Default New Leak

Went for a drive today, and noticed a new leak on my garage floor -- arrgghh. Not from the RMS, but from the circled area in the pic below. Anyone have an idea what be amiss? Anything to worry about?

I'm not sure, but that doesn't look like a good place to be having a leak. Let's hope the oil is coming from somewhere else, and just dripping from there.

this is getting annoying.
why is it that 6gt3 rarely leaks, had 4 all bone dry
and 7gt3 90%+ leaked had 3, all leaked multiple times

+1. I know it's annoying and frustrating, but get it checked out.

the biggest drop of oil is up by the sway bar. Looks like the oil is coming from there and blows back over the rest. The techs will know right away. I did have a front seal go on my 6GT3. Took the dealer 3 hour to fix.

Thanks -- I am definitely going to have it checked out -- annoying indeed -- here is another pic -- a quarter is in picture, near the new leak, and other piece of paper in back shows RMS leak.

I remember my MY04 996 GT3 leaking like that it was an easy fix. I might have an photo or two arpound somewhere

The second My05 9966 GT3 has a much more serious leak (case) and the motor had to be rebuilt.

I have had worse luck with the 996 (2 of them) variant than the 997 (none of them... yet!)

Default Front Seal leak

I have a 997 GT3 that is two years old now and has just sprouted the same exact leak. I understand that this is a front seal leak. And just like you, I was placing newspaper under my car whenever I parked.

Unfortunately, I'm told that Porsche is not replacing these seals so easily and is asking for pictures to demonstrate the leak. Since my car is a daily driver with 22k miles I don't think that they can say that it leaked because I didn't use the car. However, I'm getting a little concerned about owning this car out of warranty.

Anybody else have a front seal leak?

I did with my 996GT3. Was no big deal. THey do not need to remove the motor to do the repair. Dropped it off in the morning picked it up later the same day
