Default For 7 GT3's that have RS LWFW and the

other bits that accompany this mod; can you please elaborate on the RS pulley with the harmonic damping???...is this abosolutley mandatory?

Exactly what parts in entirety are indicated for a minimally problematic upgrade?

Thanks guys...changing my clutch and FW so don't want to miss any details...

Hey Norm, I'll try and dig out the part numbers (the pulley, washer and bolt) but I know I posted them a while back on here (not at the shop today) so try the search (I will too). Most guys in the early days didn't do it and haven't had any issues but it's one of those things- while you're in there...

Norm bud, as you told me the great words of wisdom, just try and do it right the first time lol.. It will be worth avoiding the hassle later on god forbid that pulley bolt backs out and then your car shuts down on you :/

Found it from my thread on march 08 I knew it was here somewhere...

the part number for the pulley is:
K99610201795 (F004) for the RS

You'll also need these if you're doing an RS one:
993 102 550 80 (bolt - M14 x 1.5 x 40)
999 025 174 02 (washer - yes it's really a different part number).

It's just nice that Porsche atleast engineered a factory LWFW and harmonic dampening pulley....for us M3 guys, the aftermarket aluminum flywheels are too light (10lbs) and don't adequately damp the harmonic resonance from the I-6 engine, and that's with the factory harmonic dampener. Unfortunately alot of people find out the hard way, myself included.

Inspired by the GT3RS, I'm now working with JB Racing to create a "factory" style single mass, steel flywheel that has enough weight to damp the vibrations, but light enough to reap the benefits of a LWFW.

Of course every engine is different, but if Porsche installed a dampening pulley on the RS for the LWFW, then I'd certainly do it with the upgrade to a standard GT3, as it's more of a long term protection for rod bearings, crankshaft, etc. etc.

Actually the dampener is for another reason. The standard dampener was too heavy apparently (hard to believe if you hold one in your hand) and the motor was revving faster and then slowing sooner. This casued the pulley to loosen and fall off. The Motorsport pulley is lighter (seems funny as the heavier one is the one with the holes in it) also uses a bolt that is slightly longer for more thread contact in the crank (it is a 993 part number bolt BTW)...
