That would be a calamity.

Anyway, if you look closely, this car is miles away from the 997.1 RS.
+1 Bingo was his name-o...

I should say "too close to" the $200K psych that the GT2 couldn't bring. If you add PDK, CCB, nost-lift, engine-mount and maybe just full leather (forget the various new froufrou items) it adds up, give or take California's new 10% sales tax, to a number painfully too close to $200K whether it's a check or a lease.

When did Porsche drivers start paying more for new 911's than old Ferraris? : )?

You may be right, after all, I saw some RS' go for $150k+ MSRP...so your number may be possible...

My guess is that it'll start off somewhere in the $140K-$155k range....

Default 997 GT3 RS (MY2010) engine spec...

...so does that mean the GT3 RS for MY2010 gets a 4.0 liter version of the awesome GT1 block (in line with the 2009 RSR) with, let's say, 455bhp?

It'll surely be a GT1 block but I wouldn't count on a 4.0l, since the last RSR was a 3.8 and the 997.1 RS was a 3.6.

MJ - now that it is out, so to speak, did you see any PDK GT3 cars (base or RS)?

From what little I've heard, the "corporate line" is to say that "enthusiast" cars from Porsche are manual shifters. That contradicts just having attended the "enthusiast" launch session for the Box/Cay where the "draw" was the PDK cars and all of the pitch was about PDK.

In my humble, as soon as PAG is ready to bolt the robotic double clutcherr into the big HP 911's, they'll rewrite history and anoint the PDK. In short, who gives a royal, flying f-.-c-k what some marketing imbecile does to pitch the product, when the GT3 and or RS has the PDK on the order guide, I'm keen to drive it and I'll likely be stupid enough to pay the premium.

After a couple of months with no track time, I think my "compass" is off "true north" and I want to get at least a day with a 911 on the track before I open the door to a 430 or 360CS, especially if that was instead of the 997.2 GT3. Thinking in terms of depreciation and fun, the Ferrari seems to have the upper hand now that those late model cars have taken their cuts.

Of course, if Stuttgart said "sell us a kidney and we'll pay for it with a PDK RS" I'd likely sign up. : )

The rest of your post is interesting as well. I too would be 'keen' to drive a GT3 class car outfitted with PDK. I wonder if there will be an option with the next model year (2011)?

Probably just the fact that it's a mule, but interesting that there are no center-locks...

That part of the development is not out yet...

I believe the BB license plates indicate Baden-Baden.

It would be really funny if this is just a test-car for the newer version of 4S and the wing is just to fool all of us.

I like the RSR style wider front fender and this is much more serious than the MK1 RS. Love the new one, bigger engine plus wider fender like the 993 GT2!

As I said, the RS is coming soon!

I better get my pennies in order...

The GT3 went up 6K in price, so why would the RS be more than 6K over the MKI RS?? Or am I wishful thinking?

I should be first on the list.......
