the grid had 40+ cars.
the fastest were 07 cup cars, there was a 03 cup, 00 GT3R, 4-5 GTL cars, and 11 911 spec toyo cup cars and then 6 BSR. we were all gridded in one race. 911 spec and BSR are gridded together, the rest are in another group 20 seconds ahead.
i qual'd at 2:06:90 over the top of T5. i had the pole for BSR. when they asked where i want to be, i said inside. well..... there were 11 spec 911 cars ahead of BSR, the 11th 911 was on the inside, so i was behind him. the #2 BSR was on outside, but he had a space ahead of him (b/c there's only 11 911 ahead of us, so outside was empty).... then i realized the last few 911 spec cars were slower than me by 4-5 seconds.... well my realization came way too late. flag dropped, #2 BSR blew by me as i got stuck in traffic. i did pass two 911 spec and eventually in traffic, i caught the bumper of #2 BSR. though we had very close lap times, he was much better a passing and weaving through traffic than i was. so he gapped me. i lost 1 spot in my class, but gained 4 spots overall. i guess no too bad.
as usual i over cooked my brakes. it was flushed right before friday, but after 200 track miles, my pedal went all the way to the floor. i figured i had 1-2 more laps to go, i just pumped it like crazy and finished the race ;-)
i have a chase cam, which i have no clue how to use. if i caught something in video, i'll post.
it was a blast. i had great fun. more to go tomorrow.

Sounds like you're enjoying the adrenalin.
Good to see four or five GTLs showing up. Where are the results posted? I'm curious to see how the GTL competition is doing. I have to say I'm tempting to find a "free to good home" car to set up for GTL and try my luck at a few races, but time is the enemy.
Looking forward to the video highlights -- maybe other drivers there got some good video?

Congrats again John! Sat you were out witted by the pro, but today you gave him a run for his money and came out on top! Great driving!
I'll upload some pics from sat's race when I get home.

I take it this was at Thunderhill. That's a helluva trek to drive and race -- no spares or you had support?

i have no idea where the results are posted. probably some where on GGR site or PCA national site. 11 spec 911 yesterday, maybe 9 today?, GTL and cup cars are too far up front i didn't count. not like i am going to pass them haha..
call JWE and just do arrive and drive. they have a GTL car ready to go.

ahem... edit out all the mistakes i made....
today i got smart. i picked outside of the row since there's odd number of spec 911 in front. this way i am one row ahead of all BSR's. yesterday i picked inside natrually and got hosed.
once i got the inside i wasn't going to give up the apex to the faster 911's. went side by side from T1 to T3, then he backed off and the 911 held up mike and relieved pressure off me. i didn't yield to any cars, even if they were in faster class, which i did yesterday and really lost mometum. i figured if you got more hp, you can get by me.
mike was faster than i. half way into the race, he rode on my bumpers, but my defensive driving prevented him from passing. then double yellow REALLY helped out.
of course, we are under yellow, 2-3 laps to go, my fuel light came on....
single file restart, i saw the flag, got on it, squeezed into apex under spec 911 (you know those *** heavy 911's have to stay wide, while i just stick to the inside berm with no prob). one i squeezed by, 911 closed the door on mike. whew... good for me., last lap, T2, i got a "point by" from a spec 911. nice. i hugged inside of T2, he's outside, so again mike had no place to go. by then he realized there's no more chance to get me....
CHECKER flag...
