Hopefully not just the same crap upgrades of the past.... The only justification would be 100kg or so of true weight reduction and track specific aero improvements... similar to what Ferrari do with the scuderia for 20% increase in price...

I have heard from other forum that the new RS will come out in 2010 and this time the RS will be seriously improve over the GT3. Unlike the mk1 version, just some special paint and decals.

but doesn't the scuderia also have more hp than the std. f430? i think it does. that with the aero improvements warrants the additional $$. the 3 and the rs on the other hand share the same drivetrain with similar hp. imo the additional $$ for the rs is not warranted.

btw does this new 3 have the new generation engine or does it still have the gt1 base? it looks awesome..

They may look beautiful, but the 500Nm torque value is a bit of a pain.

Give me 5 lugs so I may use the existing wheels I own!!!

i am an RS die hard. too bad 964RS aint here.
but the only way the next RS would tempt me is

old GT1 block but at 4.0L
wide body

sure, i can ask more, less wt, more CF, plexi.... but i am a realist. if they give me just the 4.0L lump, i'll bite, even at 40k more.

Retained resale value would be the main "upgrade" inherent in the RS. Though even that seems to have been eroded lately.

I agree that 5 slugs is not going out of style just yet. From the other post referencing 100 ftlb, it sounds like there's a 5:1 reduction torque multiplier tool involved.

You can just imagine the first time some "Quickie Tire" place tries to pry off the "dust cap" (centerlock nut) with a screwdriver ... : |

Frig that! I'll be buying the necessary equipment, taking the wheels of at home and driving them down to have new rubber popped on... I think you're spot on with the screw driver scenario... Frankly, most prob won't even have the required equipment to get them off initially, especially in these parts...

Hell, I got new tyres a few months ago and ended up with two studs threaded... they can't even get 5 stud wheels right after 50 years of existance...

There probably wont be a 997.2 version, just a rumor.
Filed under the "FWIW Department", this has also been my view for quite some time. The current world economy should certainly underscore this view.

One could plausibly argue that the likelihood of a 998/991 RS becoming reality is a long shot.

I've seen (and tried to stop) a dealer tech using a rattle gun (air impact) to remove the nuts off a 993. As the old saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't teach an old dog to sew a silk purse out of a pig in a poke."

Very true, lol... It was the infamous rattle gun that did me the damage. Too hard to feed them on by hand so they just rattled them straight on... i think there were more studs on my wheels than IQ in his head...
