Default Racedeck - Regular vs Flow-Through

Hi All,
Like the Jeffersons, we are moving on up except not to the East Side but rather to a house in Cambridge MA.
The garage is in need of a major makeover.
One of the things I want to take care of is the floor. It needs a major cleaning and then either an epoxy or maybe some Griot's floor paint (experience anyone).
My main question is regarding the Racedeck flooring which I know a number of you have from reading prior posts.
I like the Circle-Trac design and was wondering if anyone here has used the "flow through" tiles which are apparently more for wet weather places,... like here. I am worried that equipment won't roll well on it and that a floor jack might bend the vanes on the flow through tiles. Any experience?
Thanks.

BTW, I posted this in this forum because I figured there was a higher than normal shot at GT owners having a custom garage floor!

I have the circle trac race deck and live in Seattle (it gets a bit wet here) and have not had any problems

I sweep it out once a month or so...

Thanks PJS,...your garage looks great! Are those cabinets custom made or pre-fab?

Lista "residential grade" sourced thru Griots.
note the ones on the right have sliding doors so you can easily get into them with both cars in the garage, but it limits the size of what you can stick in them..

I would kill for a larger garage.

I thought the flow thru tiles are mainly for areas where you are using a lot of water... wash bay etc..
For water that drips off the car and tires etc... the circle trac ones have not been a problem at all.

Thank you again! Yeah, I wish I had a bigger garage too!

Same here, wish I could increase the size of my garage! Did you get those tiles from Griots? Do the car jacks leave any imprints, roll well while under load? How much did this floor cost you? Thanks for the info!

My floor is polished concrete. It was "burned" when it was placed and is super smooth. Sure it is just gray, but it sweeps up sooo easily. I have radiant heat in the slab so no plastic tiles for me. You can get your floor ground down and sealed. It will look like the floors in most Home Desperate stores. You can see the halvs of exposed sand/rock particles. Tool chests and floor jacks glide effortsly across the floor.

Pic below was the day after. A bit out of focus but you can see the reflection.

I got eveything in the garage from griots (cabinets, racedeck, lights, compressor etc).
I went to some other local garage "overhaulers" and got some quotes and was blown away by the pricing for "parts and labor"... so I went to speak with a manager at Griots and pitched an idea of a turn key garage with all of their products... they do it all.. products and installation etc... In exchange for "aggressive" pricing, they could use the garage for marketing and they could see what it is like to get into the local "garage overhauling" business...
Needless to say they encountered some cotractor issues in terms of timing etc and ultimately decided that they would just stick to their highly succssful catalog business. However, I ended up with what you see in the pictures at a very reasonable cost.

Okay to your questions about flooring and jacks and rolling etc... I have no answer... I have a parking pad right outside the garage and do all the jacking etc on the pad. I would do it on the racedeck except there is not enough room in the garage with the long jack handle.

All I do is change wheels/tires/pads from street to track and back again. Anything else my mechanic handles.

I have used the jack on the racedeck one time with no ill effects. harbor freight low pro race style alum jack... (it was raining so M5 out for indoor Porsche tire change)...it was a risk because I ended up at the track on pilot sport cups looking like this:

should have left the PS2 on that day...

coochas -- nice to meet you
Brendan -- if you sponsor me, I will go! In all seriousness, I very much want to go but the tuition seems to slip through my fingers before I can commit. That and my wife has the nerve to think that if I am going to take multiple days off work, we should all go on a vacation together. BTW B, it is now official, another bun is in the oven so to speak, due sept 30th. (before you say anything smart ***, yes I am the father :-))

I really like the polished concrete as well my only concern is that it can be slippery when wet. However it looks very good and is very low maintenance etc. If I had to do it over again, I would have taken a harder look at this option. Although I have no regrets with the racedeck.
