That is a fantastic price and I think you are going to see more like it. Most of the speculators are sitting on product they probably couldn't afford in the first place. I'm not talking about actual Porsche enthusiast owners - I'm talking about the people that thought they'd make a bundle on ordering / buying one of these when the market was hot. For many, the economy is not only "that bad", but worse than you can imagine.

As to the color - GT Silver is a fantastic color. All I'd do with that car is get rid of the Orange pieces and decals, swap out the wheels (strip and re-paint or just put on aftermarket) and have a classic silver RS.

Why the surprise? The new 997.2 GT3 is a better than any of these RS.
It's a 3.8L engine and same weight. Definitively faster.

...and you can spec your new GT3 as simple and lightweight as you can, including the nice GT2 carbon foldable shell seats (and no sunroof!)

Who prefers a slower car just for the wider rump?

Hard to imagine how far the market has dropped in such a short time. I wonder what the next 90 days will bring?

The price this car sold for is correct, regardless of the economy. What was not correct were the stupid prices people were paying for them a year ago. Nothing like an economic bubble to make people lose their minds. But eventually reality comes home to roost. Ask the Ferrari owners.

The color on the silver RS is Arctic Silver but still nice.

Only the more reason to drive the cars you own. Any collector status is so far away it doesn't matter.

Exactly my view. I wish this sour market experience keeps away the collector / garage queen purchasers / speculators from the next iterations of GTx cars, so we get the real drivers to buy those (at MSRP).

...but those "extra" buyers are part of why we get these special cars to begin with. We really don't want them to go away. I am not afraid to say I paid up to get mine. I am not a speculator or a bad guy. I just wanted to have the car and that was the market price.

Those extra buyers with their MSRP+ premiums handed money to the dealers, not Porsche. Porsche made the same $ for every car. Weed the over demand out and you have the same supply, and same profits (for the manufacturer).
The only one squeezed out (or not stealing money) are the dealers... that's good in my book. Collectors can still buy the cars at MSRP and keep them for the long run. The problem is the speculative flippers... they add no real value...

Not only what you said was wrong but also do you know how many other Porsche cars a dealer have to take in order to get one allocation of a high demand car?
