European fuel tank

Does anyone here have experience changing the US GT3 RS fuel tank with a European size fuel tank (I think its about 5-10 gallons larger)? I have heard there may be a problem with the fuel fumes purging system which is only installed on the US version.
I would have access to a stock (plastic) GT3 cup car fuel tank system - which was replaced with a fuel cell!
Any advice or heads up?

Our tank is 90 liters, which, combined with the ultra-efficient characteristics of the GT3 engine, enables me to have 900 km cruising range in the GT3, the most of all current Porsches. Unbelievable, isn´t it?
And I am not talking about some economy run, but cruising speeds of around 150 - 160 km/h.

Thanks MarekN, 90 liters is almost 24 gallons, it really makes a lot of sense to exchange the tank if possible. The range with the stock US tank is just not long enough. The cost of parts for the exchange is actually quite low. I understand that all the cup cars are shipped with the large 24 gallon tank but for racing they are not allowed to use those so all the teams swap them with fuel cells Naturally there are a lot of 24 gallon tanks around for low cost. When you take the front bottom plate off you will be amazed how much space is wasted with the US tank and it looks like an easy swap, was hoping somebody has done it before and will share his experience. TRC is apparently a great reference I will call them later today.

I would switch too if it fits in the current configuartion under the hood. Is there just empty space now? I have never seen it.
It would be nice to be able to run more than 90 miles on trackbefore running on fumes, or less than an hour at Sebring...

There is a lot of empty space and the larger tank should fit just fine.
The GT3 and RS have the 4 wheel drive body and our tank wraps around the drive shaft for the front wheels since we don't have front wheel drive we could use the larger 2 wheel drive tank I would think.

The Cup car tank is also 90 litres and may be the same as the ROW tank for 2wd cars. 997 Cup car tank is part number 997.201..013.90 (R). The R designates it as a race part, so you can only buy it from PMNA or Porsche Motorsport in Germany. But the part numbers may be the same. Attached are details on the 2007 997 cup fuel tank and related hardware.
In the 996 variant - I put my 996 Cup tank in my 996 GT2 and it was an easy fit. No installation issues. I presume the 997 would be similar.
