The 90L tank is now in my car, but it hasnt been tested yet.
I will keep everybody posted on the results.
Interesting. Please let us know if it all works perfectly.

If I can recalibrate the fuel cauge and DTE info dependably I need one.

I can not finish 2x 30 minute sessions with the 3.8, the tank is empty in about 45-50 minutes or 85 miles. So with long sessions it means refilling each session, a PIA.

I know this is the 997 GT forum, however can someone clarify, is there room in a 997.2 Targa 4 to fit a larger tank or is all of this 'put in a 90l tank' mainly for RWD cars?

Additionally, you may solve the gas gauge issue, but what about the 'miles remaining range' issue? That computation depends not only on the fuel rate but the computer knowing the capacity remaining in the tank, so the OBC would need to know the capacity of the new full tank.. so some computer changes would be needed to do a full replace with a larger tank. Anyone undertaken this?

Can't do it in the 4-wheelers...there's no space for the bigger tank.

Has anyone installed the cup tank in a 997 GT3 and gotten the gauge and computer to work correctly?
I have the tank and would love to get this done.
Thanks

Aside from helping with weight distribution a 600 miles range on the highway is awesome!

Are you sure? GT3s use the same 4wd bodyshell.

You could always get a custom fuel cell fitted. One of the early Gumball winners had a 996GT2 with a 200 litre tank fitted, so he could go faster and longer than anyone else.

They make a big difference on long drives.

My 993RS had the 92l tank, so I could drive the 302miles from the Channel Tunnel to the Nurburgring without stopping even when going fast - best time 3hrs 15 mins

Damn - I miss that car.....

FYI: The 90L tank is an option for Canadian 997.2 GT3's. You guys should be able to source the tank and sending unit from Canadian dealers.

i have contacted local dealer in kuwait and they said:

"If you decide to order the Fuel Tank Parts then you will have to sign a declaration form when we install them.
We have also been informed by Porsche Middle East not to carry out the Installation of a new Larger Fuel Tank on your vehicle."

now the price:

"997 201 021 90 Fuel tank 90-LTR+KIT KD.980.000 (USD3,488)
As it will be for the first time we may fix the fuel tank some more parts may be required which means the price will go up as informed by PAG, Kindly note the above parts are available with PAG"

Question: is the luggage space in Europen cars fitted with the 90L tanks smaller?

No. The larger tank takes up some of the empty space underneath the battery. There is no observable difference with the hood open, trained eyes or otherwise.
