Have you guys tried a Spec Miata? Great way to start racing. Can even rent one for a day. Lots of them out there. Low budget and lots of fun.

With all due respect to anyone who races anything, a Spec Miata isn't a Porsche. I dont' say that out of arrogance, they're just a completely different platform. They're really underpowered though they at least get a LSD. We're working on that....

Mooty, you should paint your RS green to match your son's cool machine!

Mooty, now you have done it!!! I have just wasted all morning poking around http://www.specboxster.com/sbforums/index.php!! This looks very interesting. It appears as if I could race one of these all season long for what my annual tire bill is for driving my GT3 on street and the best part is they are relatively disposable!! Hm? I wonder if I could be my own sponsor??

What muffler? Mooty's bsr has a muffler- it's really loud. I could hear him all over the track at sp. Conditions weren't that great at sp. I took my gti with semibald slicks- boy was that fun- I was on a skating rink. My bad I spun twice on 1st session plus 7 other cars. Locked my brakes before t4 and lap later spun at exit of carousel- lucky I didn't rollover-got stuck and they had to pull my car out. Mooty u should have Joe Wong autograph the scrape rear fender and date it( your 1st car to car contact). Mike

If you build, budget $10-12k for a reasonable donor, then $20K to build it to specs. Add for second seat, Data, etc.....

I got started in the Spec Porsche 997 GT2 class. Its really a low cost low speed way to start.
The only problem is half our class has ceased to exist. (turn 8 and 9 at the Big Willow)

Paul, I believe that is the first time in my life I have ever heard the words "low cost and low speed" in the same sentence on any subject related to a 997!!

John/mooty: Will you also be racing PRC? Our first race is the week before the PCA race (and at SP - more fun). Note that PRC has finally quit fighting with Porsche and we are no longer allowed to call ourselves the Porsche Racing Club. POC is next ...

John/JR: I see you registered as GT3 for the PCA race and not BSR/SPBOX. What did you do to your car to change classes? What's your impression of it vs the cup car you had?

So you're really going to drive back or forth in a tin can with no windows, full cage, window net etc. Ok so where are the pictures?? We're all eager to see it.......

I think BSR is cheaper than Spec Piñata. BSR drivers don't get to buy a new tub every other race.

JR's car is lighter and LSD'd
