Pioneer uses Pano displays in their plasmas.
If you watch sports... definitely go w/ a plasma.
I have had the Pano Th-42PZ800U since June...beautiful set...$875 delivered.

Og,We have 3 of the 52" Sharp Aquos and 3 of the 32" Aquos. We love them and they are very reasonably priced. I understand they now offer a 60" for around $3400!!

Now that you have your new TV on your way, don't forget proper cables! I have seen so many people spending thousands on HDTV but using non HD cables (i.e. components or below). It's like sticking a garden hose into a fire hydrant. Here's a place that has very good quality cables for dirt cheap prices! Fast & cheap shipping too! No affliation, just a happy customer for many years.

Here's an example:

A comparable cable at Best Buy will probably cost you $100 or more. Granted with prettier packaging...

Wilfred I am a EE and I have had HDMI cables for years.
I have even kept up with the improvements in HDMI capability.

What I do is upgrade my DirecTV reviever every 6 mos and they send me 2 HDMI cables every
timeLOL!!!!

I have the Pano 800 series in the 50 inch and it is awesome! You will not be disappointed. The Pioneer has slightly better blacks and contrast, but it was another $1500 in the 50 inch and considerably more in the 60 inch than the Pano. Unless you see them side by side, you will never know the difference.

Enyoy!

I dumped a Sony 55" DLP for a Pioneer Elite 60" plasma. An incredible picture that makes a BlueRay purchase worth it. I hate having to upgrade the receiver/amp every few years as they change the cable types and the sound options.

tell me about it!!!! In October of 2004 I spent a ton on a custom dedicated home theater. I put in McIntosh amps and a McIntosh pre-amp....what the heck was wrong with me spending that much on a freakin' pre-amp as it was out dated in a year! I lost my mind for a minute back then! It has no HDMI switching capibility so I have to run the DirecTv receiver and the blu-ray player into a HDMI switcher then to the projector. It works but is a remote programming nightmare. Now there is new audio codecs with True HD sound and so forth that I can not decode....AARRRRGH!

Bryston and PMC (a standard of comparison), see the reviews (trust your ears, not the hype) and save some money (from someone who designs the stuff for a living)

Does truly anybody gives 2 ***** about what TV "old guy" should choose from?? I thought this forum was about cars and Porches in particular...maybe I am confused....

If the person posting the thread already acknolewdges it is off topic, by definition, save us all the pain and post the stupid thing some where else...

Enough with the AMG ****, and the Minis for sale, and the TVs and who knows next....

Again, maybe I need help, or to increase my pill dosage, or all of the above... but for the love of God, stop posting stupid/pointless stuff...

EDited BR - language
Thanks

I preface every OT post by OT. There is not enough matter here to keep a GT3 forum going for 2 years inbetween model releases. Also typically I find a$$ holes in the OT forum much like you. So since I have been friends with most of these guys for 5 years or more I ask them who I trust. YOU are not one of them. Are you not capable of NOT clicking on a thread? **** off.

Its obivous you need help now go back to your Ford focus forum. Since most of the OT guys cant afford TVs (such as yourself)
I ask those here.
And Yes you need help
