PCCB Disc wear
Guys, thank you so much for all the information coming in about PCCBs for a forthcoming Total 911 feature.
I have lots of evidence regarding structural failures, damage and so on.
I now need to hear from people who have had to replace their PCCB discs due to wear.
I'd like to know how the wear was assessed - surface appearance, wear indicators, weight, thickness or whatever. Plus, what mileages were involved, and what sort of use had the brakes had (track, road, hot weather and so on). Also what pads were used.
High-res pictures also appreciated.
Note: PCCB fans, don't fear that this is going to be a 'PCCBs are rubbish' piece -it's not: it is intended to be as full and unbiased a feature as I can make it.
Thanks again - comments on WEAR only on this thread, please.

Guys, (not for the first time) I salute you all.
I've posted a similar thread around forums here and there and it always fills up with irrelevant posts and people fighting over the subject.
It's a pleasure to come on here, see that the thread is well-viewed but untouched and be able to move on without sorting through the arguing to see if there's any data in there.
Getting very little in the way of wear probs, by the way, which is good news.

Not to your point, but as a point of reference, at 40,000 miles of street (only) use, my pads (not rotors/discs) were at 50% wear (on my 997S). (Obviously I am not driving hard enough!).

John,
I have over 16k miles and about 50 track days on my PCCBs. I've replaced the pads with Porsche OEMs. The rotors show some wear but I haven't had to replace them. I have no negative comments re: PCCBs. They've been trouble-free and performed beautifully.

Thnkas, guys.
Andrew, do you thik you could get a good high-res pic for me? I'd like something that shows a bit of normal wear like you describe.

Well I'm waiting on some info from SGL and elsewhere, so I can't be sure. Also, the editor might look at it and say 'This is a piece of junk and I'm not publishing it!' :-)
But I would guess issue No. 47, which I think will be out towards the end of March - hard to say, because the change of publisher means I'm not too sure about how the schedules pan out.
EDit: Just realised you said 'Where?' not 'When' - Total 911.
