997 gt3 this winters upgrades
ok track season is over for us in nj . it was a fun year at wgi-summit point-mid-ohio-thunderbolt-mosport and the least favorite pocono.
35 track days in total this past year.
my car is used for track 70% and 30% street last winter in did the following......
1-rollbar
2-996 cloth gt3 seats w/schroth harneses set up for hans
3-18'' ccw's was running mpsc's and toyo 888's and just went to hoosiers at my last event of the season last mounth at vir.(no turning back now the hoosiers were great 3 days on my first set)
4-car lowered 6/10'' and corner balanced with the aligment set up for both track and street i'm not sure of the exact settings--but the car hooks up great and getting some real good lap times vir best 2:10 and i know i can do better.#'s at wgi w/mpsc 2:14's
5-protosport lite catback exhaust ( all 3 stock mufflers gone and replaced with two small manga-flow cans..lost about 55 lbs.sounds great
6-gt3rs l/w flywheel and clutch
7-trackmate and stand alone sony mini dv tapes are expencive, thinking of getting the video and on to the trackmate.
so whats the upgrades this winter..........please tell me what elce you guys did that works ........and what doesn't
thanks stuart

Well you have done more than me, I have the bar, belts, did the sharkwerks bypass and fire extinguisher, did a track alignment. So my recession budget this year is that I am going to Change the oil in the LSD. If you got money you might want to consider a Guard LSD to improve handling and braking, I want to do adjustable toe links, with locking plates. I am going to put better screens in the front nose. I assume you are using racing pads like 29's. May want to go with stiffer rear springs like 800lbs rear 350 front, so you can soften the rear sway, some go to a GT2 sway bar.
I think Spring rate and LSD are big improvements to the over handling of the car.

I Gave myself a challenge. I had a very hot shoe drive my car at 10/10's no excuses ball it up its on me kind of stuff. Anyways until I can extract the SEVERAL seconds that I am not achieving with the exact same setup my $$ on bits is over, my $$ on coaching is ongoing.

i already have the grill screens but my center one got almost totatly wasted when a guys giant logo magnet sign blew of his car and got stuck into my center screen good thing i had that screen. i also found wheel weights stuck in the other ones.so i will be replacing all 3 with new ones this winter.i think i got them from gmg last year the ones that porsche raceing uses.
yea been running the pagid 29's they work great.

I am thinking about replacing the shocks and springs with upgraded Bilstein units which will still accomodate the PASM system. Does anybody know anything about (or, better yet, have any experience with) this system?

GMG makes some really nice components, I had FL install their whole setup this summer. Looking into a chasecam/traqmate setup myself.
btw, I love the pocono long course! Did you hit lightning this year, I liked it better than thunder.
