Default Studs (wheels)

who makes racing studs that would withstands stress and cross threading?

More importantly, what size (length) should one look for? I know plenty of bmw tuners selling them and noticed rennline has one too. I seen too many poorly made one that want to pick one up that is par to rest of the car.

TIA

I've had good results with H&R for wheel spacers and wheel bolts. (There are cheaper sources, but I was unsure of quality. Don't want your wheels falling off.) What you need is wheel dependent, so look at what you have and measure OR go to a good mechanic. I use Tire Rack for common fitments and a local wheel/tire guy for odd ball stuff. No substitute for doing your homework.

withstand cross threading? NOTHING withstands cross threading. if you find those, pm me.

i used these for 3 years on my track toys.
http://store.cdoc.com/detail.asp?id=20222&name=
never had issue.
63mm length willwork. the longer one bottoms out before you lock up the nuts.

there are other makers, but i use these.

BBS has another type with bull nose tips, very nice. but those only work with BBS wheels.

The ones that Mooty uses have stronger threads than the stock lug bolts. 65mm from CDOC, they work with 5mm spacers as well, even 10mm spacers.

I removed them, because I wanted to run the BBS Mg Racing wheels, and the wheel need 90mm studs, so I'm back to lug bolts.

Mooty do you replace the OEM lug bolts with the Studs, is it stronger or just easier to make tire changes, what about the Nuts for the studs??

CDOC also carries a quick install stud that has a shank instead of threads on the outside to start the nut. They also go up in price from $8 each to about $23.

Got mine at CDOC also. Ask for MacKenzie and oil occasionally!

TCKline used to sell nascar style studs... not sure they still have it but some of the CR guys sworn by it. you could really "impact" gun on them. Thanks for your tip!

Heard you guys had fun at SECA and then some.

yes, oem bolts replaced with studs
they are stronger and also easier to change tires.

if you search CDOC or just call them, ask for steel nuts for track use. they will send the right stuff.

CDOC told me those only work with BBS wheels?
have you had success using those "shank" or "bull nosed" studs with fikse, CCW, etc?

i didn't make SECA monday or tue... too much work and other crap to do..

i had TC Kline studs on the white e36m3 you saw years ago.

although i was told not to, but when i am in a hurry, i impact gun the CDOC studs/nuts too. 50% of the time i impact gun them, 50% of the time i break the nut loose before putting the impact gun on.
