Ok, here's a green-horn question... What pressures are you all using on the track?

I usually do 35 psi hot all around on the 911s, but I've heard some people use the manufacturer recommended cold tire pressure set once the tires are hot.

Any advice?

depends on the tire and track temperature.
even in cold weather i could heat up RA-1's by 6 lbs in a morning session at seca. they like 37f/39r psi hot so i started at 34/36psi cold and bled them down after the first session.
Toyo R888's need lower hot pressures...and they are really sensitive to a proper first heat cycle. they need 35f/37r psi hot. I have found these pressures to work well for these two tire types. can't speak for hoosiers yet...going there next.

I run Hoosier R6's at 38 front and 43 rear hot.

I believe I ran the Corsa's at about 36 and 40.

Unfortunately, there are 4 street tires (not race tires) that are faster than PS2, but they don't make 7GT3 sizes yet. They're the Falken Azenis Rt-615, Dunlop Z1 Star Spec, Bridgestone RE-01R and Kumho XS.
You are absolutley right....
I recently changed tires for my BMW 1 series.... Falken, Dunlop n Potenza were in my list until i further researched that the last two weren't available locally so settled with RT615...fantastic tires which you can drive daily and has great dry traction.

I ended up running 30 psi hot all around (they were something like 40+ psi after a few laps), and the car was all over the shop. I couldn't be fudged to drive to the gas station to reinflate, so I did some wuss laps just to play around with a loose end (1 rotation, fun).

I used the following link for further information and am going to test 35 psi hot all around and adjust up from there during the next track day: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=58

Faintly funny aside: My track buddy is suffering from "Cup Car-itis". He took his street GT3 out for a few laps and came in after some really slow laps, so I followed him in to see what was up. He gets out and says, "Something's wrong with my car, it's f**ked". So I threw him my keys and we go out in my car. After about half a lap, he shakes his head and goes, "Yep, there's something wrong with your car too...".

Son of a b***h!

I just ordered the Motorsport Pirelli Corsa, not the RS spec ones. They are now available in RS sizes and should be here in a couple of weeks time! Too late for this week's track day.

Anyone else running these tires?

As a further update, I drove a friend's 7RS with the Motorsport Corsa tires yesterday on the circuit. They come in standard GT3 sizes and they were so much better than my stock Cups. Very predictable, very sticky, grip is always there unlike my cups, and really suit the GT3. Glad I'm not going for another set of Cups and hope these make it before the next track event on the 27th because my tires are toast!

I echo that sticky grip bit for the "full-tilt" Corsas... I'm a bit dissapointed with my MPSCs. Going up to the track this weekend to see if playing with tire pressures helps any. Enjoy yours!

I am spoiled and can't drive stock MPSCs anymore! Mine's still at home waiting for the holidays to be over this week so I can take it for its first RMS seal!

lawjdc, I ordered mine through the local Pirelli dealer. Check with Tire Rack.

todinlaw, around $2100 and they look like the usual Motorsport Corsa. They now come in stock GT3 sizes.

A guy I track with (instructor) that did to use MPSC swears by the Pirelli MSC.
tirerack.com has them...they do cost a lot though.

Hoosier R6's are about $1500 for 19" sizes instead of $2500 for the stock Pirelli's, very hard to beat compared to the Corsa System (haven't seen the motorsport corsa, and can't find a place to buy them yet) but R6's are over 2 seconds faster on a 90 second sized track for me.
