Willow lap time?
Is 1:32 a decent time at Willow?
I just wanted to verify the video below.

Kevin Reynolds turned a 1:31:78 in his 05' 996 GT3 with MPSC's a few years back. I think Craig Stanton broke into the 1:28's in the same car. Obviously that wasn't a fair comparison in that video. I turn 1:34's in my 201 HP Spec Boxster, 1:25's in my Cup...

A 1:32 at big willow is a good time. But I don't think that guy knew how to drive a GT3. Sideways is not the fastest way and as such, the delta was 4 sec with the GTR.
On that track, the GTR should be about 2 sec. faster due to it's big muscle and long straights.

Stanton ran 1:31 in a stock 997tt on street tires with a passenger recently, and said he could get it to 1:29 if he pushed harder. No way that Gt3 was slower, unless you drift half the course like he did

He smokes the tires coming onto the track and overheats them and then wonders why he has a lot of oversteer? GTR is nice but put down 10 hot laps in a row in each car and take the average and see what happens (and don't let the driver cook the tires before he starts).
Nothing against the GTR, but that was not a fair fight!

FWIW I ran 1:34 in my 6-gt3 on nittos and the stock suspension, nowhere near Kevin or Craig just confirming that it must be the set up cuz i aint that fast. I'm guessing they used the manufacturers recomendations for tire pressures.
I rode with Sammy in an e46M3 a few years ago at Cal speedway and he has amazing car control, he drifted around the entire infield. Clearly not the fastest way around but he was trying to have a good time not post a good time.

That's pretty baffling to me about the times. I've never been on that track in a car but it's basically universally understood there that cars are always faster, especially having so much grip on the long sweepers and no lean angle to contend with.
For example, the track record for a bike is 1:19. Lots of cars in the 1:05 to 1:10 to 1:15 range iirc? 1:05 being the old formula types?
Stock bikes are able to turn that track at 1:24 with mirrors on them (right rider of course) and anything with under 10K in mods can easily turn 1:22's with the right rider.
Very strange and illuminating, I wonder why that is.

hmmm, that's interesting. I remember when i was at the norchlife (the only time i was on track with bikes) I was able to consistantly out brake them on every turn and strangly i was able to keep up with them through the turns but not on the straights. I guess the cars have grater surface area/rubber for braking and i guess overall rubber. power to weight no contest.
I would think that the fact that the bikes are so much lighter would give them an advantage in braking but that wasn't the case.
