ALMS Porsche rumor
I was watching WInd Tunnel with Dave (lower your voice awhole lot) DESPAIN and he said Porsche will pull out of P2 in ALMS next year while
working on a NEW P1 hybrid that will come out in 2010. Penske will race Rolex next year while waiting for the car to come back.
While I love the idea, I dont understand after a couple of years of racing P2 with NO LeMans appearances why they have to wait ANOTHER year to get serious on the race track. Seems to me like another excuse while dragging their feet. But then again we have been waiting a long time.

Porsche - Crawford DP03, put the factory drivers in it and win Daytona for Porsche was the plan last i heard altough that may not be the case any longer due to the bigger NASCAR sponsors they have but i don't see Dodge developing a DP motor for 1-2 seasons and 1 team, and moving to a NASCAR owned series with a competitor would probably not be the best idea for any team,
AJR has the setup right and hopefully the new motor will bridge the torque gap to the V8's

I doubt that Porsche AG cannot afford to race in P1 or P2 if they wanted to. As of 2008, they are the world's most profitable car company. However, maybe their money is tied up with the Audi and VW acquisitions, or more likely, they have taken a 'wait and see' approach as they have many times over the past decades. Acura is running in P1 next year I believe, and without a viable P1 car, maybe Porsche does not want to continue in ALMS until they can be competitive.
