Default anyone try 19" slicks yet...

- i see they are now available

Pirelli P0 Race Slicks

Size/ 235/645-19, 295/680-19
Overall Diam. inches/mm 651/25.6 690/27.1
Compound DS & DM (soft and medium - thinking soft for front, medium for rear)
Tread Width inches/mm 226-8.90, 275/10.83
Recomm. Rimsize inches 7.5-8.5, 10-11 (i have an 11" vollk i use for winter tires)

Stock tire height (OE MPSCs)
- for gt3/rs, front 25.5, rear 26.3
- for gt2, front 25.5, rear 26.7

- From the above info, the tire height is probably fine for the computer of the gt2 but likely on the very edge for the gt3/rs (rear is too tall but may be ok)

- can always run hoosiers but want to try slicks
- i know all the issues about suspension, etc

- there will likely be more 19"s as we move into next year and beyond
- i have a few sets of 19's so i would rather not buy yet another set of rims

Paul, several GT3 owners in Rennsport are using the Pirelli slicks. They are the tire for the 430 challenge race car and have been available (and used by Challenger racers) for three years or so. They work well on the OEM wheels and are faster than Hoosiers. They wear a bit faster but those who are using them find the bang/buck ratio acceptable.

best,

Bob,

Do they run the 19s that I mentioned or are they running the much more common 18s

thanks

Paul, they are 19 inch and the same size as our tires, 235 F nd 305 rear. Standard equipment on the 430 Challenger racer on 19 inch wheels. At Tremblant they are about 2 secs faster than the R6.

Best,
Actually, those are 18 inchers on the 430 Challenge cars, as well as the 430 GT2 car. Ferrari 430 race cars use 18", while 430 street cars are on 19's.

EDIT: I was wrong about the challenge car, it is on 19's, but the GT2 car is on 18's.
