I just dont understand if one has an rs and in time maybe valuable but it's predicated on keeping miles to a minimum ie hardly if ne trackdays. Whats the fun of that if it stays in the garage much like ferrari which holds that stigma? Regards. Mike

if you dont drive them, yes in 10-20 years. they may hold value.
but i drive my toys.
if you put 15k miles on it every year. by the 10th year, the car would be very tired. it will not appreciate i can guarantee you that.

Good point. That part is important. To see the appreciation you would also need to keep the car in very good condition and keep the miles down. However, I think you could drive it 500 miles a month and still do well. But if you track it hard, then yes, it will get beat up and not be a gem; and I agree about what is the point in that. I can't not drive mine; way too much fun.

The resale value always depends on Porsche's follow on models.

Exactly. If 998 (991?) GT3 is better and not way more expensive, resale on 997GT3 will suffer. If the new one is worse (loss of dry sump, etc.) then resale will be strong on 997.

Well, I'm for starting a campaign about the 997.1 GT3 being the last of the GT1 inspired motors. And therefore better.

(Worked for the 993)
