Rad, I gotta ask. You know I respect you as much as anybody on this board for the work you did on your
996. You know more than anyone else on the GT3 other than Porsche engineering.
The work you did on the 996 makes the car you had better than most 997GT3s or RS. Why go
through the exercise again? I would understand if its just because you enjoy the work.
I would, if I could afford the parts. But given your work on the 996 your gains on the 997 would
be marginal with some one at your expert driving skill. So Why?
Just asking

Rad needs to work for PAG in design/concept of next generation gt3's or matter of fact me pcar. He has the rt formula. I would wholeheartedly not hesitate going to his shop if he had one. Regards. Mike

You know what else? he knows which parts were compromised too, that could have been designed better.
Now he needs a CAD designer and a CNC mill.

Sure it will be better than his 996 GT3. I'd like to hear how it pulls now with 10% less weight. I remember that Rad had high hopes because the 997 GT3s would be neck and neck with him in a drag race (or possibly slightly faster I forget what he posted because this was months ago) despite the BIG weight difference between his much lighter than stock 996 GT3 and a standard 997 GT3. So a comparably lightened 997 should be pretty fast. Work on the suspension, a wider track, and better aero should also all add up to a significantly faster car. Good luck Rad, this is how they should have came from the factory.
BTW the 997 RS is the best looking 911 to come along in a long time.

in my experience, my 3140# 997gt3 versus a 996gt3 (wasn't gutted but had euro seats and bolt in half cage) are dead even 2/3rds the way down VIRs front and back straight and then and only then does the 997gt3s hp reveal itself - at which point you can do a flybye - but at this point you are doing 135mph.

we did drag race starting from 2nd gear, rolling start (no one on track, except the two cars). i am in 997gt3 stock, steel rotors, R888 with roll bars/seats against a 996gt3, steel rotors, same roll bar and seats, mpsc. he has 4.0 R/P. if we had equal launch, we are even until 125mph+. i will pull out.
how did you get your 997gt3 to 3140#. my with full thank is 3200, that inc a 60lbs bar and gt3 seats, steel rotors, CCW wheels with R888. these cars are heavy.
btw, RAD, suncoast has OEM plexi glass rear window now.

Working on the car is my hobby. Interesting hobby, because it teaches me more about the car.
This car should be a little bit faster than my modified 996 GT3 when I'm done. I'm expecting about 0.5 secs faster lap times on a 45 secs AutoX course.
I never liked the looks of my 996 GT3. I think the 996 is the only 911 that does not look like a 911.
A wide body 997 is a really nice looking car. The RS (a real RS) is a special car. RS with wide body = no brainer.
The car is not far away to be faster than my previous car. I just need to improve the transmission and suspension. Another 167 lbs need to go, to achieve the desired 2,850 lbs with a full tank, and 2,750 lbs with enough fuel for 6 autoX laps or 3 track laps (Time Trials). From the 296 lbs reduced, 63 lbs came from the TC Design Rollbar, by the way a much better built Rollbar than the 997 GT3 RS OEM I had in the 996 GT3.
