Your thoughts on an "07 GT3
I'm considering purchasing an 07 GT3 and have a few questions:
Do you GT3 owners on this board track your cars?
I don't really do to the track, will this car not suitable for me.
Are these cars rarer than TT? no 09 models coming out?
Is there a collectability factor associated w/ the GT3?
I'm currently driving an 06 C2 and looking to upgrade. It's a daily mostly a weekend car.
Ohh, I saw a nice CPO 07 GT3 gt silver at Fremont Porsche w/ PCCB, Fiske, techart exhaust, 6K miles asking $129K. Any bay area guys seen this one?
Thanks for your help guys.

Yes, often as to many on this forum. Why else buy a track-oriented Porsche?
I don't really do to the track, will this car not suitable for me.
Not sure why you'd consider a track-oriented car for street driving only.
Are these cars rarer than TT? no 09 models coming out?
Fewer made, so I guess so and no 09, but maybe a 2010.
Is there a collectability factor associated w/ the GT3?
I don't think so even though I have one. I do believe they will hold value better than others.

I think you'd be wasting your time and money going from a fantastic 997 C2 to a GT3 or Turbo if this is a street car / weekend car. The GT3 is great (love mine) on the track, but not so great on the street / highway, especially if you have imperfect roads.

There are so many GT3s available now, just look at eBay and Autotrader / Cars.com. Also note how few are actually selling - buyers market even though sellers are trying to maintain a mystique.

That was my car. Has to be.
Nice car I think there were only me and the buyer as owners. I had in on the track once
for parade laps Clear bra Sharkwerks exhaust.
I had to sell it because of my back. I now own the official PACE car for Rennlist track days
the AMG C63.
Pm me about it or email me about it. I loved that puppy

I don't really do to the track, will this car not suitable for me. Possibly, it may lead you to the track, Start with DE and Autocross, soon you will be hooked
Are these cars rarer than TT?yes
no 09 models coming out?no
Is there a collectability factor associated w/ the GT3?many answers yes, and maybe seem to be popular, what's the collectability factor with YOU?
I'm currently driving an 06 C2 and looking to upgrade. It's a daily mostly a weekend car. 997GT3 fits that description , if you want it to.
Ohh, I saw a nice CPO 07 GT3 gt silver at Fremont Porsche w/ PCCB, Fiske, techart exhaust, 6K miles asking $129K. Any bay area guys seen this one?If that's OG's car, jump on it, not many GT silvers around, but I'm biased. Plus with CPO, you really can't go wrong
Seriously, find a 997GT3, and drive it. Give the dealer a deposit, subject to a test drive, and go find a ****ty city stree, then a nice canyon or country road, then decide if this is right. Check out the PASM suspension settings and compare it to the C2, then either pull the trigger, or walk away.

it's also a great street car
perhaps, but not rare enough to be considered rare car per se.
after 30 years, maybe. b/n now and 2040, probably not.
you mean fremont, CA as in fletcher jones porsches? that's a very low price for a PCCB car from a CA dealer. PM me for more details and choices.

Not sure why you'd consider a track-oriented car for street driving only.

Your question "Not sure why you'd consider a track-oriented car for street driving only." is misguided. The GT3 and even RS are ROAD cars designed to work well on the track (particularly the 997 versions). They are not actually track cars. Who puts power windows and a stereo in a track car? Track cars are Ariels and Caterhams and Westfields and maybe Lotus Exiges.
My feeling is that if you have a GT3, even RS, and use it almost exclusively as a track car, you're missing the point a bit. The 997 GT3 is a perfectly comfortable and friendly daily driver if you're so inclined. My 996 RS is a bit hardcore for daily use but I love it. I track it only occasionally.
To the OP, if you get a real kick from the GT3 experience then you will find the 997 GT3 an excellent road car. Way more exciting and fun than a Carrera or TT, IMO.

SpeedGeek,
You miss the sarcasm in my posting altogether My point in my style is that if you are looking for a comfortable weekend street driver / daily driver and have no interest in the track whatsoever, then there are probably better choices in Porsche than the highest-strung most track-oriented model.
I love track driving, but if I discontinued (can't imagine why), then I would not pick the GT3 for a variety of reasons - I'd probably get a Turbo or stick with a 997 or 997S (especially if I already had one as the original poster does).
I will say that the highway manners of the GT3 are much better than the 996 GT3, but local street driving is a pain. Very stiff clutch pedal makes stop & go tiresome and the height of the front splitter makes it impossible to enter / exit commercial driveway aprons, navigate speed bumps, etc.
