No mention of microwavable food (pepperoni, cream cheese, veggies, jalepenos, twinkies) wrapped by a dough? You didn't spend the whole weekend....

Nice post.

And for the gun shows, I went about ten years ago with a neighbor, he asked if I was bringing one of my hand guns. I said no I wasn't selling any. He said you bring one anyways, "It's what you do."

OK.....

This is just rocking hilarious...

My pal wanted to bring me to one (I have never been there) Pocono NASCAR race. NASCAR looks fine in the Home Theater at the two road courses.

No wonder why more people follow F1 instead of Circle Circus.

I've heard that the daytona and sebring 24 hour races generate similar "crowds of einsteins" as my attending friend put it

ONe thing that did not come through in the post was genuine friendlyness of everyone there
it was like a big family reunion with the family tree being a straight line.

I think you've touched on something through all the derision. Then of course you derogated again.

Hey, may God Bless them too.

cheers:

I did think of the just raw AMericaness of it -it was pretty much a clear cut segment of Americana.
But nobody had a mean word over the whole weekend.

NASCAR got to be the most popular form of motorsports here in US (in terms of attendence), hence the most money generating. They must be doing something right!

I do wish people here in US would appreciate more for other series that's has more international flair, though. I mean, US, has no F-1 race?! (No more Indy, right?) No WRC, etc.

At least now we get 2 rounds of MotoGP. I am happy about that!

CJFan what ever they did they are losing it. The stands at both the Nationwide and the Cup race were IMPTY!!! I think the thing that made them so popular, is something they lost. You cant get near the drivers any more, there is nothing really accessable at the track except for some low slung ladies willing to flash for a beer or beads. I hear Indy car is getting the fan friendly stuff back.
the Long Beach ALMS and Indy car races were far more user friendly than Fontana was. You can watch the NASCAR events and see IMPTY seats all over (except at Bristol) so what ever they were doing they are losing it. I think the drivers are becoming prima donas and NASCAR is limiting access and they are paying fer it.
I have always been a road racing fan and I thought going to a NASCAR race would make me a fan, but holy shmoly its really not up my alley. Maybe 25 years ago when I drank like a sailor. But now it just seems childish.
