You don't have the top end, but then, I've never driven 190 MPH anyway.

Basically, you'll be in 6th (instead of 5th) on the back straight of the Glen.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge with this set up?

you can physically put the 997cup sequential in the street car, but you would need the ecu to control the ignition cutt for full throttle shifts and also the huge shifter assembly that stands twice as tall as the stock shifter. If you wanted to put a complete unit in instead of re-gearing the stock tranny you could use a 996cup transmission. It is the same configuration as the stock 997gt3. You could use your stock clutch and flywheel. A complete 996cup transmission is pretty expensive new or used but would be a big performance improvement.

For what it is worth I have installed the 996 Cup tranny in my 996 GT3 and it transformed the car. When I track the 7RS the difference in gear ratio's is tremendous. The cup tranny keeps you in the power band, the down side is you are very very busy shifting. I would highly recommend it if you can directly drop a 996 cup box into the 997??

I did the Cup R&P and an LSD. Well worth the money for me. The LSD is a bit harsh for the street when it is cold, but it is driveable. The extra grunt in second gear is just what I needed for autocross. Cost a few $$ but not quite 10K.
