the R888 is nowhere near as sticky as a BRG R1,

R1 has TW40, R888 has TW100, so it will last much longer, but not anywhere as good grip, and not good when hot. very good on rain though compared.

I've heard they are similar to Hoosier R6's for grip level and may last a little longer. Unfortunately they don't have a good size for the rear of the 997 GT3 - either 285/30R18 (on the small side) or 335/30R18 (most likely too wide).

yes, i cannot find R1 in right sizes for 6 or 7 gt3's.
R888 is an ok tire, RA1 is better and longer lasting.
hoosier is like crack. dont try it.

Mooty - if you think Hoosiers are like crack - try some scrub slicks (Yok's/Dunlops/Michelins) One try and you can't go back!!

TW rating don't correlate with grip levels or performance.

On the Hoosier R6's, I've had pretty good results running 36-38lbs hot in the front and 38lbs hot in the rear.

Hey Mooty,

I'm addicted to R6's. I now have to go into rehab between October and April.(snow)
Is there a cure?

R1 is better for e36 M3 or maybe cayman...285 is not enough tread on stock gt3 wheels is it?

I like the way the 245/305-18" Ra1 have felt this weekend (8 sessions) but I'd venture a guess that they feel or drive about .8-1.1 seconds per mile slower at my local track than the MPSC in 19". 18" hoo-hoos to follow.

despite my hatred toward mpsc, all the fast guys here now run them. i haven't tried them for two years (the 19" on RS doesn't count). i have a set coming for the 6. i will report back, maybe they have changed.
